BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE CONSOLATION GAIWAN CATEGORY UNDER TEAWARE AND VOTE!
Welcome everyone to TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday responders predicted a better TeaYear for 2009 than they had for 2008. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's Topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic, continuing with the "better/worse" theme started yesterday. How would you rate your TeaDays this year so far, better than last year or worse? AND WHY? AND COULD YOUR TEADAYS IMPROVE?
I am as always looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up ...

Since I have been tearing through a ton of samples this month, this month worse. Last month I spent mostly on strong recommendations, so last month better. This month, however, they seem to be photographing better ... maybe that doesn't count so much in this poll.
From the clean, cold mists of some of the highest inhabited elevations on earth, comes this Yiwu Mountain Spring. Mmmm, Spring, that sounds pretty good about this point in the year!

I think better so far. But it's early in the year.
I have narrowed my interests and I think
it will be a much better year.

Like Salsero, I've had the chance to go through a lot of new (to me) pu-erh samples so far this year. Of course, since I really just started drinking tea in earnest back in October, the last part of 2008 was really filled with a lot of great stuff, too! So for now I'm saying "about the same." I'm looking forward to shin cha and other new rollouts of 2009 products!
This morning, I'm having some Keemun Rhapsody. I tried a little less leaf and a longer initial steep time. I guess it might taste a little stronger. I'll have to do a side-by-side comparison one of these days to hunt down the differences.....

In my cup this morning Tao of Tea Bohea.
Have a nice day everyone!

Yea, matcha is da bombe next to YM!el padre wrote:Definitely BETTER so far, as I've discovered matcha.

It appears that you really are enjoying it el padre

O-Cha rocks, but there are other great matchas out there, how many have you tried? Matcha Maten is delish.

Started my day off w/ sencha premier, moving onto oolong # 18 from Adagio, then probably MATCHA

Have a FAB TeaDay everyone!

Oops, much better this year for me since I found TeaChat!

Better, I think. I'm concentrating on drinking down the mountain of mediocre tea that I bought last year, so I'm having fewer great tea moments. However, my brewing is better so I haven't had any really bad tea moments. My average tea days should improve as I eliminate more of my lowest quality teas.
Foojoy TKY this morning.

Worse.
For the first time in many years, tea vendors are out of a couple of my favorite bang-for-buck Assam and Ceylon teas. Supply vaporized in late December and hasn't reappeared yet. Usually, there is enough to stretch through the winter, between harvest seasons.
OTOH, I found and purchased a lovely teapot that I very much wanted, and it was on sale, a real blessing because money is tight. And I've been blessed with a generous tutor so that I can properly learn of/explore oolongs from Taiwan and China.
Edit: like brlarson, I'm drinking through a backlog of mediocre teas.

Much better for me - last year was my first year experiencing tea so I had a lot of learning to do, particularly in what I liked. Now I'm pretty solid in the tastes I enjoy so I know which teas are going to be a better bet for me. I still experiment to see if I like new-to-me teas but now most teas I get have a better chance to be something I like.
Speaking of teas I like, coconut tea this morning. It's a new one and really good. Reminds me of some roasted coconut pieces I had in Maui. Mmmm. And so far has been the only good part of this day. AUGH!
