During the day, typically western style brewing with 6 or 7 ounces. As the day wanes, however, I tend to switch to sencha with 4 or 5 ounces, gyokuro with much less, or Chinese style gong fu with less than 4 ounces. So I took an average and said less than 6. Do you think that's too much caffeine?

Typically with sencha around 5.5 ounces.

No tea yet, but Teapigs Long Jing soon! I'm in my department already this morning and didn't have time for tea before I left.

Have a nice day everyone!

Jack :D

Hey All,

I'd guess my average nowadays is about 16 oz. I'm stuck with a couple of travel mugs most days...

Mostly less than 4-

No tea yet- plus a field trip today so prob will only have one tea this morning before the kiddos arrive. I've been playing with a white tea but have decided it's not for me. I don't think I've given up on white tea but will mostly brew my japanese greens and some oolongs for now and maybe some of my pu with this cold spell.

Hm, I have pots ranging from 4 to 8.5 oz, so I went with 8. I have to admit when I use the 4 oz one to brew black, I tend to double-brew (i.e. brew twice and combine). At least in the morning I do... I don't have as much time to be going up and down brewing/tending tea.

Speaking of 8.5ozes, right now I'm having 8.5 oz of Agadio's ali shan again.

Did I misunderstand the question?

by johnoed » Feb 18th, '09, 06:22

I'm really confused by this poll. I use 4 teaspoons per brewed pot and on average I make three to four pots of tea a day. That still doesn't convert to one ounce. Did I misunderstand the question?

I brew at work in a 6oz gaiwan most the time now. Sometimes I fall back to the 16oz ingenuiTEA but not too often anymore.

I just make the first cups of oolong when I get in to work. Then brew more as the day goes on from the same leaves. Anything smaller than the 6oz and I would have to get up from my workstation a lot more.

The question is more on how many liquid ounces does your brewing vessel produce? The vessel you use the most.

The poll is going for the end product here, not the amount of leaf used.
How big is your pot size?

For me it depends if I am at work or at home and which brewing vessel I'm using. Larger volumes in my glass pot, when I brew western style around 16oz usually. My favorite kyusu - usually around 6, most used gaiwan about 4.

Usually 3 oz for sencha, gyokuro, black and white.
A little less for oolongs when brewed in my gaiwan and about 5-6oz for the bancha family.

Yunnan golden tips this morning and houjicha with my lunch.

Put my average somewhere at about 5-6 ounces. I was brewing at least 10 each time, but I've started making less ounces each brew, but more brews. Found I savor it more and enjoy the tea much more with this process.

So...hard...to...choose... I think I gave myself too many choices of what to try next with this last order

I think I'm gonna go try some ceylon sonata, then have something else later today.
