To open a tong or not....

by Drax » Feb 20th, '09, 18:15

Somebody's at the door... oh, a package full of tea!

So, my first tongs arrived today (from the Puerh Shop -- pics to follow once my camera recharges). Question for those who have gotten tongs: do you leave them in their original packaging (whether string and paper or bamboo and wire), or do you open them to check them out and make sure they're all okay?

I only ask because if I open one up, I'm pretty sure it's not going back together... :D

Definitely leave it closed up. If it's a bamboo one, you might be able to check on the tea by getting in through a crack.

So watcha get ?

I bought a single tong, plus one of the cakes, so I can leave the tong closed, but still access the cake occaisonally ....
What tong did you buy?

I did buy an 'extra' beeng, so I can sample it over the years and keep the tong untouched. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely leave them untouched.

I'm going to attempt to put a picture up in the "show off your pu" thread....! :D

I changed the topic of this thread to be more obvious...

Meanwhile, about to add more photos to the "show off your pu thread..."
