Thursday TeaDay 3.05/09 TeaCups getting bigger, smaller?

by Chip » Mar 5th, '09, 01:27

Welcome TeaFriends to TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday, most responders indicated they occasionally blew the brewing of their tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. This was asked around a year ago, but we have a lot of new members and I think even many of us are continuing to change. So, are your teacups, the ones you actually use, getting bigger, staying the same, getting smaller? Please share.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone.

About the same: 3 to 10 oz, depending on the tea I am drinking.

Yunnan golden tips this morning.

Smaller for me. Last year this time I was very loyal to a 15oz glass Bodum cup.
Now anything over 5oz seems huge. I prefer around 4oz.

This time it's bigger again. I went from big cups to small cups and now back to big. My tea drinking is usually "on the go" now and the travel mugs are the main cups I use, unfortunately.

Smaller. When I'm drinking in bulk I like about 3oz (~80ml), but when drinking fine teas I like the small ones, 3 sips per cup (~25ml).

Da Ye Wuyi from teacuppa in my cup this morning.

I would say staying about the same, however, I do use cups that range from 80ml to 260ml.

My first Adagio (UK) order arrived yesterday morning in under 24 hours! I ordered some Yunnan Gold and Dragon Well bags to drink at work, and after sampling both I would like to declare that I am very very impressed, needless to say I will be re-ordering!

Can anyone from Adagio comment on whether there are any plans to increase the selection of tea (both loose and bagged) on the European site in the near future?

Adagio Yunnan Gold bag to start the day.

Jack :D

Hmmm, since I've only got the 9oz bodum glasses, it's "stayed the same" for me. My biggest tea pot is 8oz, so most of the time I've got a glass that's half full (or however you prefer stating that) of tea. Maybe I *should* get some smaller glasses to fit my teapots better? hmmm....

Today I will be trying a 2007 Jingmai Mountain Spring. I don't really any other info on this one. . . it's got a nice flavor so far in this first infusion. Let's just see how well it keeps going. . .

I voted 'smaller'. Until about a year ago I hardly ever used teapots. I just used one big cup. But now I have a couple of teapots and then I just use small cups to drink.
Right now I'm drinking 'Awakening'. (white, green, black teablend which strangely actually works for this tea)

*Chip was here ...*

Was waiting for someone else to mention that while I was reading through... Read it carefully.

My tea cups are getting smaller. I was using coffee mugs, but now actual tea cups that are about half the size. Planning on getting some smaller ones as well soon.

hooksie mentioned yesterday about a blend of Yunnan and a touch of Assam... I think I might try blending some teas this morning for my first brew... Not sure what yet though.

About the same, serving size depending on the type of tea. I tend to go larger, but will go down to a serving as small as 4 oz. on teas that need to be brewed in smaller quantities or don't do well as they start to cool.

Fujan Baroque in my cup this morning. Will make Jasmine #12 when I get to work.

Same so far, but I alternate between a smaller (1oz maybe?) and large (3oz probably) cup.

Yunnan Gold with a touch of Assam again this morning, but now with an added dash of honeybush hazelnut.
We were fated to pretend.

Definitely smaller for me. I used to drink out of HUGE mugs; now I find myself drinking in little 3oz cups. I think it was a good change for me.

This morning, no tea yet. Jasmine pearls on my mind though.
Tea tea tea... I like tea...
