by Chip » Mar 6th, '09, 00:32

Hello TeaChatters and welcome to TeaDay. I hope you can stop by throughout the day and share what is in your cup.

Yesterday responders split their votes between teacup sizes staying the same and getting smaller. Remarkably only 4% responded their teacups were getting bigger! You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Yesterday was teacup sizes, today, generally speaking are your steep sizes getting bigger, staying about the same, getting smaller? Please share.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone ... bottoms up!

Same, since I'm brewing with a strainer in a mug. I should be taking a week off of work here shortly and hoping that will change my habits a bit and let me break out some tea pots and nice cups. We'll see.

About the same.

My steep sizes are smaller this year. Morning brews are 12oz but afternoons are seeing 80-120ml steeps.

I enjoyed some more O-Cha Yame Gyo this afternoon with my son and finished my TeaDay with Teaspring's Huo Shan Huang Ya, which is my favorite yellow tea at least for now.

Happy TeaDay folks.

Bruce

Smaller. I'm drinking better tea thus more infusions. I like to brew about 4oz for most of my teas.

GABA in my cup this morning.

Have a good tea day...

Smaller for me too. Smaller pots, smaller infusions.

Definitely staying the same. I brew anywhere from 4-8 oz, depending on the pot. I do admit that the pot I brew my black tea in is 4oz, and I will double-brew before I drink. :D

This morning, I am trying a 2007 Bulang Spring Tips. I had a "Spring Buds" cake which was near overwhelming on the senses (and now I need to go back and retry because I've had another 20 types of pu-erh since then), so I wanted to try the Spring Tips. It's got a pretty powerful punch here in the first steep (~4.5 oz, by the way). But I have to admit the last couple teas I have tried have really fallen flat after the first few steeps (either that or my taste buds had given up), so... yet again, what will the rest of the day bring...? Aside from a farewell party for some co-workers at a local oyster bar....? :D

On average staying the same though I often make double matcha in the morning (4 scoops of matcha, two ladles of water rather than 2 scoops and 1 ladle) and sometimes make a mug with a strainer of sencha rather than making a proper pot. On average I think they are the same though the standard deviation may be higher LOL...

I am about to compare Maikotea's Kotobuki to O-Cha's Manten.

I'd say staying the same: smaller in the morning and higher quantities throughout the day

Today in a cold and rainy Milano morning all the power of African sun in my teacup: Kenya black Marinyn from Mariage Freres Paris

staying the same. Either a cup that's between 6-10 oz or my teapot that's 38 oz. Yes, 38!! But my kids love tea and help me drink it.

Right now I'm drinking a 'golden breakfast' tea with a bit of sugar and a bit of milk.

My steeps are staying the same.
My internet connection is staying the same too: Still none at home. Technology and bureaucracy seem to have ganged up against me this month!

Here are a couple chunks of 2007 Yongpinhao Yiwu Fall Harvest puerh posing with my go-to sheng pot as mentioned a couple polls ago. This is the one that gave Omegapd an odd but not unpleasant feeling of numbness in the mouth.

Staying about the same here, I think. Just finished a nice bowl of matcha (O-Cha's Kiri no Mori)... and am already thinking of what I'd like to have next. I'm heading to the shower to contemplate my options.

Happy Tea Day to all,

Sarah
