Happy TeaDay everyone. Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday responders predictably indicated that taste was their dominant sense when it came to tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Comfort Tea ... not your favorite tea, but a tea that you know you can and will always like, find approachable, comfortable, an old friend? What tea is it, please share details with us.
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Oh, bottoms up!

For me it's probably a black - a nice Darjeeling. If it can't be my favorite oolong, then
next would be black.
next would be black.

Victoria stole my answer again
When I can't think of what to drink I almost always out of habit reach for a Darjeeling. The very first black tea I was ever introduced to was Earl Grey, which I drank for about a year. Then I was introduced to Darjeeling and have RARELY had Earl Grey since. I have now experienced a plethora of teas, but something about Darjeeling is heart-warming.
My first experience with it was after a miserably wet and chilly hike along Loch Fyne documenting standing stones. When I got back, the lady who ran the tavern attached to the carriage house brought me a big pot of Darjeeling and some shortbread. I think this moment is my Pavlov's Bell
Just so you can see the place I am talking about (this is where my ancestors are from):

This is a tough call for me. Keemun had always been my comfort tea with a basic but good Long Jing/Dragon Well right there. I could say sencha but that is more of a favorite/crave tea.
So it is black or green, but I will have to consider this a for a bit today.
Started the day off with a rather anon sencha that someone picked up for me in Tokyo. It is an asamushi/light steamed and very nice. Brewed up in Hagi kyusu! SweeTea liked it as much as I did. Pyrit enjoyed the attention while TEAh enjoyed the treats.
Next up ...
... maybe a comfort tea?
I hope everyone has a great day filled with great tea.
OH, checked tracking and a package is due to arrive today from Japan

My comfort tea is definitely a black tea, though it is a toss up between Earl Grey and Adagio's Chestnut tea. If I can't decide on a tea that I want in the morning, I go with the Chestnut and if I can't decide on a tea to have in the evening, I go with Earl Grey. My comfort tea used to be just plain peppermint, but it is not longer as comforting to me as it used to be.
Currently in my cup is Big Red Robe.

Oolongs are my comfort teas, especially TGYs. I feel nourished by TGYs in ways that I don't know how to describe. Good sencha is also nourishing, the richness of Uji Miyabe comes to mind, but sencha doesn't satisfy whatever itch it is that TGY knows how to scratch.
Hou de's Spring 2007 Zheng-Yen Shui Xian in my cup this morning.
I've finally gotten my tea stocks enough under control so I can treat myself again, like this morning. At one point I had 90 teas opened at the same time. Now I'm down to 8 open oolongs, 2 japanese greens, 3 yellows and 1 white, and I have a plan for these open teas -- my pu-erh stocks are under control. Everything else is sealed and vac-packed. The next challenge will be to create a plan for the sealed teas.

It is a black!
I remember when I was a young student, I loved the heat and comfort of a cup of earl gray (teabags and lots of honey
, I was very young!!) and chocolate chips biscuits
Nowadays I go to DJ and Assam, pure and simple and no teabags at all, but it is always the same sense of comfort
Right now I need comfort... but I cannot have my cup of black: afternoon at work and no tea break permit
