Welcome everyone to TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday the vast majority of responders indicated they were computer geeks on at least some level. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Tea experiments part I. Are you content generally to find a good tea and accept it, perhaps buying it over and over? Or are you constantly searching and never fully content, always trying new teas, hardly ever reordering the same tea? Or perhaps somewhere in between? Please share with us.
I a as always looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. And don't forget, bottoms up!

Monday TeaDay 3/23/09 Tea experiments I?

I started out with Japanese Green from O-Cha, so I've been kinda spoiled. Over 3 or 4 order cycles, the first question I ask myself is how I'm doing on Yutaka Midori. I've begin to come out of my tea hole, and my new "goal" is to go around the various vendors online and try a variety of their offerings. Just today I ordered from Den's and tried to change things up by getting Sakura Sencha and some Guricha. However, I'm sure that I'll keep at least one of my favorites on hand as a fall back.
Hrm, I'm so new to tea that I haven't yet had much opportunity to restock on favorites. So far I've only re-bought one tea. All other purchases have been new-to-me teas. Ask this question in another year, and maybe I'll have a different answer.
I've had this Tie Guan Yin sitting in my drawer, vacuum-packed, for a few months now. Finally had the urge to open it and give it a try....

I am mix, I have few teas or at least types of teas I like to have available in the house (gotta have Uji Sencha in the house). But I also have to constantly try new things, experimentation is one of the pleasures of having tea as a hobby. I do not believe in the "best tea" even on a subjective level, it is also very situational.
My next experiment will be Pu Erh (thanks to some wonderful tips from Hop_Goblin).
Just gonna finish reading a chapter, then I will brew some Ujibashi San no Ma and have a nice break from studying.

At first thought, I was gonna agree with Sal and say 'restless tea dabbler', but realized that is how I would like to approach my tea journey.
However, with my tight budget right now, I honestly can say that I have been sticking to ordering those teas that I know I really like, instead due to the fact that extra $ to dabble is not available at this time.
Yeah, I know it sounds like a rut, and I guess it is.... however
Keemun Rhapsody from Adagio is in my cup right now..green will be next!
Have a FAB TeaDay everyone and bottoms up!
Ummm, nice pic Sal

Alittle of both... love some of my standard favorites, but still love trying new things on a frequent basis. I always have this feeling there are amazing teas just out of my reach that I am missing out on... mostly thanks to you people.
I just ordered my first Darjeeling Spring First Flushes from Tea Emporium last night... hopefully they will be delicious although I know there is some skepticism regarding the quality of this year's crop. I am hopeful!
In my cup this morning, organic Kaoru Matcha from O-Cha... can't decide if I like it better than the Kiri No Mori or not. Jury is still out.

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***
I voted rarely content. However, once I find vendors that I like I will frequent them almost exclusively. For vendors, I'll frequent the best that I can find and also local vendors. It's important to support the local guys, and, Hey ToastedToads, I keep Harney teas on my shelf too; Connecticut is local.
Besides, you can only drink so much tea in a year, so why not mix it up to keep your taste buds on their toes. That said, I will probably buy seconds of some Japanese greens. With Chinese and Taiwanese tea there is so much to choose from that it seems silly to repurchase anything.
Back to everyday tea for me. Upton 1st grade TGY in my cup this morning.
