Hi everyone, I'm a new member and exceptionally new to tea. I spent most of my youth drinking anything but tea. If tea was the only option, it was Lipton's Iced Tea in a giant jug and brewed in the sun for an afternoon. Last year I decided to start drinking tea for my health, but until about a month ago, I've been struggling with the overwhelming bitterness of the drink. I assumed that it was like coffee in that it was an acquired taste, and I was shocked to learn that this was not the case.
I kinda feel guilty for not trying to make the best of my tea sooner. After netting a electric kettle and a umm, infusing... basket? (It fits inside of the mug and let's the tea infuse that way), I tried my first loose leaf black tea, the Archer Farm's Earl Grey (Target Brand). In the back of my head I got the idea that it's probably a very mediocre tea, but the taste was still better in many ways to the Lipton variety I've come to know and endure. It's inspired me to strive and find better tea, and so I've ordered a handful of samples from Adagio to see how it goes. If you guys have any suggestions for the tea newb, don't hesitate to let me know. Looking forward to chatting with you all!
