Where did you buy your gaiwan?
I am looking for a high-quality gaiwan. I also want to be assured that the source is reputable and that the gaiwan is lead-free. Any online sources you know of?

I bought this from Tea Spring, and I've been happy with it. My first gaiwan actually. Not the nicest one around, but cheap, has a delicate feel to it, while at the same time being comfortable.
And of course, their customer service has been great. They went the extra mile to get me a new aroma cup when the original arrived broken. Should be recieving the new one soon.

Is lead much of a concern when buying gaiwan? I assumed due to the glaze that whatever lurked inside had little chance of making it to my cup.
Wyardley: That second link is about old iron tetsubins.
I have one beautiful white gaiwan around 100ml and a few decorated ones that are larger. My go to gaiwan for pretty much anything that doesn't involve rather expensive Chinese green or more than three people has been a little, baseless, plain white 60ml number I got in a travel set from Dragon Tea House, rather similar to Brandon's one.

I don't think lead is a big concern. Also, they're not usually decorated on the inside anyway.Proinsias wrote:Is lead much of a concern when buying gaiwan? I assumed due to the glaze that whatever lurked inside had little chance of making it to my cup.

D'oh. Don't know how that happened, but I fixed it.
