Saturday TeaRoom 4/04/09 Spring is in the air?

by Chip » Apr 4th, '09, 01:03

Greetings TeaFriends and newbies to our TeaRoom TeaDay! Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday, seems the vast majority of responders definitely leaned more towards cleaning teaware right after use as much as possible. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaRoom poll and discussion topic. Let's talk about something hopefully pleasant for the vast majority of us, and yes, quite a bit off the tea topic, or is it? Spring. Is Spring in the air wherever you are? Please share some of your Spring with everyone! :D

I am looking forward to sharing Spring with everyone on TeaDay today!

Yes, we are finally getting there! It was a bit misty here and there the last couple of days, but I really felt the warmth of the sun for the first time today. So it's finally
here!

It should be a beautiful day tomorrow!

Spring has been here for most of the winter, so it's not that big an event here.

We are underwater here in S. GA. Fourteen inches of rain in a week's time. Roads are gone, houses are flooded- it has been an absolute mess to live and work in. The town I work in has had 3 houses destroyed and two main roads closed due to earthen dams on ponds give away. Thankfully, the rain stopped last night but more is expected Sunday and Monday. Salsero, did you get hit very bad with this same cell?

Needed rain, yes, but not excessive. Sounds horrible up there.

wow omegapd- didn't realize how bad it was down there. just drove through on the way to and from florida last week before this all went down and was wondering how you all were doing.

spring in the dc area is iffy this year. it looks like spring! cherry blossoms, forsythia (sp??), pear tree blossoms, daffodils... but the weather is icky windy cold drizzly and so on. i selected on the way for the poll but would say that it's somewhere between on the way and kinda. today and tomorrow its supoosed to get warm but so far our warm spells have lasted in the hours not days like usual. and the wind! so much wind this winter and spring- makes me wish for my own windmill!!

eta- waiting for my dogwood to bloom- its a big pink one that fills my kitchen windown and that i can see when walking in my front door- free art for a few weeks!

i am so looking forward to real spring weather- my golf game, such that it is, is really rusty. and well, as much as i love my job, there is nothing in this world that can compare to the summer countdown :D

wuyi oolong this morning.

Spring has definitely sprung

My Camellia is now past it's best

Image

My Pulsatilla is here before Easter
planted in pots - last year about 2 blooms per pot, this year many more, next year??

Image

Originally in pots my Primula Veris has now self seeded in lots of places, maybe I'll make Cowslip wine soon

Image

The Damson blossom is here

Image

but the Victoria Plum is a little behind

Image

and the hard winter caused Mice or Squirrels to eat most of my Dwarf Tulip Bulbs but a few have survived

Image

Hazel has catkins, Japanese maples are throwing out leaf and the Goji berries are getting rampant

In my cup this morning 100 Year Fragrance - YanCha

Beautiful pictures everybody! It's great to see that spring is here... well, at least in the Northern Hemisphere.

I took these photos of some trees a couple weeks ago. I had thought they were cherry trees, but I think the real cherry trees are just now in bloom here.

And finally some other random bush/ground flowers that I thought were striking.

Meanwhile, time to get off of my duff and begin breakfast. I'm thinking I'll go either for some Tie Guan Yin or some Tai Ping Hou Kui.

It is not quite snowing, though we have a chance of getting some. The temperature has been hovering at just above freezing and it has been raining for the past few days so if it drops just a few degrees, we might get some more snow. I am really not a big fan of spring. There are too many things that I am allergic to that start blooming all at once. I do love looking at all the pretty flowers though, especially the lilacs and the trilliums.

Currently in my cup is Guricha.

Yes, definitely... my daffodils and cherry tree are just starting to bloom. This also means I should receive a handful of bulb catalogs in about a week. I love the psychology of bulb marketing: the companies wait until my daffodils are in full bloom and I'm so happy to see spring that I'd buy *anything*, then the catalogs come and I end up ordering a few hundred more bulbs. Then when November rolls around and it's 40 degrees and drizzling, and they ship me 500 bulbs that need to be planted RIGHT NOW, I wonder what I was smoking in April when I placed the order.

Honeydew white this morning. Another of those spring flavors.

Just about ready to pop!

by Intuit » Apr 4th, '09, 11:12

After weeks of hovering in the 40s-low 50s, we 'scheduled' for daytime temperatures in the 60s with lots of sunshine. My cherry tree is ready to bloom, probably just after Easter.

Scots Breakfast to start my day.

Very sorry to hear of the flooding in Georgia. Means that Omega is working very long hours - hang in there guy! Too much rain, too darned quick to be of use in salving the prolonged regional drought.
