Monday TeaDay 4/06/09 Caffeine OD?!!!?

by Chip » Apr 6th, '09, 00:34

Hello TeaChatters, welcome to TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.

Be sure to check out this topic on Tea Essays submitted by Katrina. Sounds like a great idea!

Yesterday responders surprised me with a surprisingly positive response to Lapsang Souchong. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. We discussed "caffeine withdrawl" symptoms on Friday. But what about Caffeine OD symptoms? Do you experience the effects of too much caffeine? If so, how often and what are the symptoms ... effects?

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up!

I don't think I have OD'd on caffeine ... at least not from tea, maybe coffee in the distant past.

Now this gent looks like he may have had a couple cups too many.

This may come as no surprise to you ... or anyone, but I really like the tin! :D I have been checking it out since you shared the link several days ago.

Never caffeine OD, Sal? Lucky you!

Yup, but not very often. The first day that I went without coffee I drank five 24oz pots of oolong just in the morning. I was pretty well jacked. By the end of the week I was down to two or three pots for morning tea. Now I still drink two or three pots in the morning, but my pot is smaller and I'm using less leaf. Oh, I had a _lot_ of tea on Chinese New Year, so I was pretty jacked then too.

I had lots of very small servings of tea yesterday. Tie Luo Han, Kaboku, Yame Gyo, and Zheng-Yen Shui Xian.

I don't think so, I never think about the caffeine I am having during the day, so I feel caffeine is definitely not an issue for my body!

This morning early wake up (0450 am 1st shift at work) and a cup of Assam Tohwra!

I virtually never OD on caffeine, partly because I don't drink that much caffeine (no energy drinks, coffee, etc). Only very rarely do I notice effects from tea.

I only made it part-way with the 1996 Menghai 7532 that I started yesterday, so I am picking up where I left off... :D

Like Salsero, never on tea- but I have had it before on coffee. Get stuck working a bunch of OT and living on caffeine and nicotine is not the best feeling in the world.

Only when I drink a energy drink in addition to my huge cup of morning coffee and then also drink black tea. Then I get a bit shaky and my heart beat gets faster.
On my 'powerdays' I need the energy drink. I have to remeber not to drink coffee on those days.
Lately I've been sick of flavored teas. I've been drinking the 'irish breakfast'. I'm not sure yet if I like it.

I voted virtually never, but I do suffer the effects of the diaretic effect if I have coffee/tea/cola to late in the afternoon. :D

When I was younger I would drink coffee right up until bedtime!

The caffeine in tea doesn't seem to affect me the way it does when it's from Diet Pepsi (my other caffeine vice!) I never get jittery from tea and it never keeps me awake, although I do try not to drink any tea after 4 p.m. or so.

Adagio Cinnamon in the travel mug this morning. Happy Monday everyone!
