by Chip » Apr 11th, '09, 01:32

Greetings TeaChatters and welcome to TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday reponders shared about their user names on TeaChat. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Yesterday was user names, today it is avatars. Is there a special explanation for your avater? Do you ever change it or plan to?

I think it makes forums like this more personal. You have an idea who you're talking to. There's people on here that I've talked with and have no idea who they are or even their gender. It feels kinda weird...

Yes, at least partially - I just really liked this heart cup pic when looking for a tea avatar. Soon after I was here I began searching for this cup. It actually took me many months of searching to find the exact cup, and I'm really glad I did. Now when people ask me if I have this cup and where I got it, I can say yes.

Mines just a pic of a couple of my pu-erh knives AKA letter openers. Just purchased a new DSLR to replace the old one, so I may be making a new one soon. I'll certainly be able to start posting more pics again to give Sal a run for his money.

Today I'm drinking the house Oolong from floating leaves. Didn't think I'd much care for it, but its really quite drinkable. Gonna have to order more.

I photographed this avatar myself - 'cause I like Japanese tea and Japanese teawares.

And that thing holding up the kyusu is my left thumb :)

It's the cup I drink from more frequently than any other.

Today started with Organic Oriental Beauty: later will be probably some Shanlixin High Mounatin Oolong 50% roasted (which I believed to be darker): still have to figure out tea quantity vs water temperature. Later we'll see...

After my first sanskrit experience in Bangalore, I decided to use Arjuna's chariot as my avatar. I love the Mahabharatam story.

Good teaday to everyone.

Avatar? I may make one when I have some free time.

I'm having Kaboku in the morning! It's a setting a nice tone for the day.

Mine is of someone handing Raj Kapoor a cup of chai in one of my favorite Hindi films, Shree 420. I already had the screen cap cut down to avatar size for Livejournal, so, since it involved tea, I just decided to use it again when I signed up here.

In my cup now: Yunnan Noir.

My avatar is simply gyokuro leaves from the teachat galery. I however drastically modified the original picture as some people experienced some difficulties to distinguish my posts from pentox's ones.

I've been studying the Japanese language for some time now as a side interest, and so I picked a Japanese cartoon character called "ocha ken" (i.e. tea dog; i think it might have been introduced in English as Tea Puppies or something). Dogs with ears shaped like tea, and in particular, a picture of one enjoying a cup of tea -- perfect for me! :D

I started a mini-cake of 2007 Mengku yesterday but only got 3 infusions before having to leave it, so I'm picking up with it again this morning.

I love your avatar Drax! I started with my greyhound and then switched to the flowers. Not tea related at all- still thinking about that. The flowers were given to me for teachers appreciation day and I thought they looked so beautiful in my kitchen window. I didn't intend to leave it as my avatar so long but haven't really found anything to change it to.

I also like real pix- I hear you omegapd- might change mine soon!

My avatar is the calligraphy on a kyusu. The pattern is why I bought the kyusu, otherwise it's really too big for me to use and so far it's just decoration. It's a sentence saying "7 times falling down and 8 times standing up, that is life". I love the attitude it reflects :D
