Greetings and salutations TeaChatters! Please share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday we discussed our Profile Interests and encouraged updating (which I still did not do
). You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Getting back to some topics that many current members have missed. And for many of us, our methods change frequently.
So, how many steeps per tea on average? Please share, details details details!
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

4, I think, averaging out the very long numbers from Puerh and the shorter numbers from some blacks.

Nice tones in your photo of the day, Sal. Cute little pot to.
I chose 4 steeps also, due to the onesy-twosies I do with some blacks and with chai, balanced against 5-7 and more with many chinese teas, sencha, etc.
I did not figure in matcha, since that would bring down my average. LMAO!

2 for blacks
3 for sencha
3 or 4 for gyokuro: I used to have some more, but I as I really prefer a strong gyokuro, I recently reduced the number of steeps.
More with oolongs or puerh (but I don't drink them very often)
Keemun this morning.

Hell. Couldn't really tell ya. Usually two for Darjeelings, up to 10 for Oolongs, and 10 - 15 for Pu-erh. It all depends on what I'm drinking more of at that particular time.
At the moment I'm drinking a 2007 Thurbo Tippy Clonal from Tea Emporium.

I'm running into the same dilemma -- only a couple for blacks, more for oolongs (usually 5+) and way more for pu-erh (usually 10+). I averaged it out to about 7.5, but that would be if I have an oolong in the morning and a pu-erh in the evening (which is what I'm doing today).
Speaking of which, I'm enjoying adagio's ali shan with breakfast this morning. Looks like it's going to be a cool week, with temperatures hovering in the 45-60 range, and maybe a little rain later this week. I hope the pine trees have finished belching pollen over everything, though. Ugh!

At least 4 most days. Often I get 6 or so but it depends on how my day is going!
I'm working on the first mug of Lumbini Estate tea this morning.

Probably averages around 10. Darjeeling and Japanese green is usually 3 or 4 but the rest are usually quite a bit more, due to my kyusu and Darjeeling pots being the biggest.

I would say on average 3, I don't drink Pu-erh (yet!)
Drinking gyokuro Shou-Un from O-cha.

I said five steeps but it depends on a lot of things.
Good quality morning oolongs usually get five steeps. And with Japanese greens I'm using more leaf, lower temp, a smaller pot (110ml), and a short initial infusion time, so five or six steeps. To balance these I get between one and three steeps from everyday teas.
Upton Spring Dragon again this morning. It will probably get three steeps.

Good morning everyone. I voted 5 as that is how far I usually push my Japanese greens. [Well, sometimes even 6, but 5 I would say is my norm.]
In my cuppa this morn, is Sencha Premier a great selection from our host Adagio. I find this green a good everyday one for the $. I especially enjoy that for myself, it has always been pleasant with an enjoyable flavor through the 5 steeps. I do quick infusions and waste no time in drinking it!
Nice pic Sal!

Hard to answer when sessions with puerh is part of the equation. Usually two or three steeps for most loose leaf teas and perhaps a couple of steeps for some quality bagged teas. Puerh can go for many steeps, often more than ten or fifteen.

I said four. I could probably get more steeps out of the tea. However, I only have one brewing vessel right now, and usually by the fourth steep I'm in the mood for something else.
Woke up late - no tea yet
