Welcome everyone to TeaDay, please stop by often to share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday many responders indicated they have already begun ordering new harvest 2009 teas. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. "I want, episode 1!!!" Is there a particular Teaware you are reallly reallllly wanting, craving right now? If so, what is it? If not, why not?
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. And bottoms up!

Oh man, I always have an "I want." Gear Acquisition Syndrome, don't you know. I have been on the hunt, for months, for a kutani-style chawan. I bought one about 3-4 months back, a beautiful example, but the seller did not wrap it properly, and it arrived in two pieces. I've been looking ever since, and have yet to see another like it.
On another note, we spent an hour up at the Japanese Garden this evening, it rained earlier in the day, and was fresh and crisp when we were there. This is not quite tea-related, but it is in the same family:

Nope, no teaware cravings at the moment. Though it's not hard to find something. But my focus is on pu'erh right now, having just placed a large order with nadacha and houde de...
Speaking of pu'erh, I decided to go one last round with a 2008 Haiwan 8808. It's become a bit like a typical Chinese green in the later infusions.... interesting.

There is a kyusu I really want. Problem is that it is rather expensive, 50 000 yen thank you very much. But I truly love the look of it.
This Konishi Yohei pot:

Brewing some Jasmine tea at the moment, it one of those bundled versions that opens up like a flower when you brew it, quite nice to look at.

Nothing I am really craving right now. Except maybe a cabinet to store it all in.
Starting the day with Lupicia Nilgiri.
Have a nice day everyone!

I am craving some "covert Hagi," perhaps something by Mukuhara Kashun or Noutomi Susumu ... and always a few kyusu too. All the Banko talk lately has me looking.
Thumnail shot is all I have of these Noutomi Susumu Houjin style kyusu-s I have seen as sold out for ages, but in typical Japanese site fashion, they leave it there to taunt or haunt.

Began the TeaDay with O-Cha Fukamushi Supreme, I am so amazed how good this is so late in the season. Very well preserved! SweeTea was impressed. Pyrit and Lil Bit were the only other interluders today.

Want, need, crave some aurora blue seigan hagi... but not to fear, one is on the way.
And I'd love some new kyusu... there's a blue seigan to match my tea bowl, I'd love to have that... and a kenji from Artistic Nippon... and I would just never get tired of acquiring new kyusu. But... space and $$ keep me moderately restrained.
Drinking Den's Hoji-Kukicha this morning. It's good, but not hitting the spot, so I'm thinking what will be next...

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

I remember. That was heartbreaking! Such a gorgeous bowl. Well, I'll keep my eyes open and if I do spot anything at all similar, I'll PM you.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:Oh man, I always have an "I want." There are a few things I'd probably buy if I got the chance, and any pretty tea ware can always turn my head. But in truth, I have an embarrassment of teawares, so these days I'm not hunting as devotedly as I used to.
The one thing I do really "need", for practicing tea ceremony at home, is a furo-kama set (brazier and kettle) with an electric-element heater. These are not easy to find, nor are they inexpensive (let's not even talk about the cost of shipping), so I'm not sure when I will have the opportunity to get one, or the money to buy it when I do.
In the meantime, I use a hotplate as furo, and a very old tetsubin as kama. Humble and wabi as hell

In my cup... er, my husband just brought me a cup of coffee

ive been searching for a "medium/large" sized cup.. i have a lot in the 2 oz to 8 oz ( to the brim) range...and one huge one that i love thats like 15 oz that i usually end up only filling halfway, plus one hagi older chawan..but I find i want one in the 10 to 12 oz range for some of my daily drinks.
I think im getting one custom made...
