I've read the reviews on the 32 tea tables and it was very helpful. But, I'm looking and have been looking for a large tea tray which has been nearly impossible for me to find. The one I just received is just too small at 8x16. I would like one double that at least. Anyone have a large table they love?
Thanks in advance!
Rebecca
I just bought one tea boat, tray whatever you call it for my chinese teas and teaware.
I simply love the space I have to work with. U can check it out at my blog: http://tea-issue.blogspot.com/
Actually that is not the picture of my tea tray, just borrowing it till I take my own tonight.
What I like about this tea tray is 1) Big or should I say HUGE surface area. 2) Only a single deck to clean as the waste water drains down a pipe into a plastic container and 3) the solid construction of the tea tray.
Makes me feel so "pro" having such a tea table to work with. I bought mine from a local tea shop in Macau.
But you can go to http://cart.greenteapots.co.uk/index.ph ... 0&parent=0 and check it out.

One of the largest I've seen online is this guy from Yunnan Sourcing, measuring in at a whopping ~ 27.5 x 17 x 2 inches. Appears to be a nice table.
The other large one I'm aware of, which you've probably already seen if you read through my post, is at Sensational Teas, but it's smaller than the one above.
I swear Fun Alliance used to have a giant one, but it doesn't appear to be stocked anymore. I've also seen even bigger tables that are basically cuts of natural-edged wood with a rectangular stone slab in the center. They are $$$. I've been looking into building one.
Is there a particular reason you want one so large? Sometimes I feel like my medium-sized tray is too big, since I'm usually preparing tea for just myself.

Thank-you, Swozt! I love your tray. It is just the right size, but I wish they stocked a brown wood. It is lovely, however, and I may keep my eye on this one. I enjoyed your blog, too. There was another tray on your blog...where did that come from?swozt wrote:I just bought one tea boat, tray whatever you call it for my chinese teas and teaware.

Bi lew chun, I noticed the one on YS, but have been wary of ordering again since they lost my last table. They refunded my money, though, after about 8 weeks. No biggie. I want a large table as the one I have is just not large enough to accommodate the number of guest that seem to show up at my house for my tea! I like to do the full ceremony, so There's a bunch of water going about, especially when I'm serving 8 people. By the time you have all of the proper items, it takes up space especially when you have more than 2-4 folks involved. I also admit that during my trips to China that I drooled over their trays and should have purchased one when I was there; the trays used in the gong fu preps at the tea houses we frequented throughout the country were larger like the one I am looking for, even when there was only two of us to serve at the time. They had plenty of space for all their items on the tray.bi lew chun wrote:One of the largest I've seen online is this guy from Yunnan Sourcing, measuring in at a whopping ~ 27.5 x 17 x 2 inches. I will keep the one from YS in mind...I like his products and should probably give YS another try. Thanks again!
Hi Rebecca,
The other tea tray I bought from Macau Tea Shop as well.
Actually that is also a very good and large tea tray, however, there were some minor defects and the shop was really kind to change it for me.
So while requesting for a change, I asked them to look for another design which is the one I have now as I find it easier to maintain and looks more "Professional" in my opinion.
Right now, I am glad I made the change.
Hope u find the tea tray that suits your needs.

That is an awsome table. I looked at it and was worried about how well it would drain?Proinsias wrote:I'm om love with this tea table that Nada has. If I had somewhere to put it and my wife wouldn't kill me it'd be long gone.
At 1.2 meters long and 8.5kg it's a beast.

Well it ain't gonna drain as well as a two foot square wooden drain but my smaller bamboo tray has a much smaller drainage hole which presents me with no problems.
A major bonus for me was finding a 15 or 20 liter green glass globe thing, I think it may have been a vase in a previous life. Draining the proceeds of the tea mess into it fills the room with the sound of running, echoing water which is beautiful.
Here's a pick of the set up crammed into the back room when we were getting carpets fitted. My better half found the soothing sounds of water draining into a sphere akin to nails on a blackboard so now it lives in my sneaky man pit in the attic:
Edit: can't get the pic to display, try it here

Just a word of advice when using bamboo tea trays. If the base is constructed of bamboo, it maybe prone to leaking due to poor construction or leak due to expansion and contraction of the bamboo.rjiwrth wrote:heck yeah! That's what I am looking for. Where's it at?xuancheng wrote:This is one I like. Its 32 inches x 18 inches
So try to get one with a plastic pull out tray.
I stay away from the cheaper bamboo trays if possible.

This is 绿檀, certainly not bamboo. It is also probably the largest tea tray manufacturer in China. The company website is http://www.chinesetang.com/. The quality is pretty good. I want to buy one, but I don't know how I would get it back to the US. The retail price is about 300 USD, but the wholesale price is about 150.swozt wrote:Just a word of advice when using bamboo tea trays. If I found 4 other people who wanted one I might actually try to figure out how to ship them all to the US cheap. they are just so huge.
