Tea Flavored Ice Cream

by Anelezel » Apr 27th, '09, 00:24

So what are your favorite tea flavored ice cream?

Green tea is usually a favorite of most, I like it but its a little rich for me sometimes. A ice cream parlor in my town makes yerba mate ice cream and I thought that was pretty tasty. Although it doesn't really count, I love mint ice cream too.

Mmm, I want some right now...

I could have used some green tea ice cream today! Especially since I was stuck at the computer all day and had a grand view of students playing on a massive slip n slide.

Honestly I've only come across green tea ice cream. I wish I could try the yerba mate ice cream, sounds delicious!

Is there any tea flavoured ice cream besides green tea (Matcha) ice cream?

I have never seen mate ice cream myself, but would be interesting to try it.

I love green tea ice cream! I cannot get a pint of it here, but Trader Joe's has green tea ice cream mochi. Love it more than green tea!

Crepe in the Grip, http://www.yelp.com/biz/crepe-in-the-grip-alhambra, has green tea ice cream crepes....so good.

I have had earl grey cookies, I bet earl grey ice cream would be just as good.

If you live in the Bay Area Ici in Berkeley tends to make tea flavored ice creams alot. They also make small batches so its always different every time, in fact except for vanilla and chocolate all of their ice cream is different every time I go there.

I keep telling myself I'll just make some puerh flavored ice cream sometime!

Haha don't let the Pu'erh section read this. Saw where someone got scolded for wanting to try his pu'erh iced.

Hm, the only tea flavored ice cream that I have seen is green tea ice cream. That being said though I've seen it in quite a few different forms. The common place people see it is in the mochi ice cream bonbons that as others pointed out you can get at trader joe's. Although around here everywhere has them. Regular grocery stores, TJs, asian stores, etc. Aside from that I've had the Maeda-en green tea ice cream, not my favorite, but also wide spread availability. My favorite as of late was green tea gelato from gelato classico. I get mine from Powell's sweet shoppe when they have it, but they rarely do. Hagen Das has a green tea ice cream flavor now too, I picked up a pint last week, but have yet to try it.

The Hagen Dazs green tea ice cream is really good, its just super fattening and I really don't stop to read the serving size when I'm eating a pint, haha.

The same ice cream parlor that makes the yerba mate also makes an earl grey ice cream. I'm not fond of bergamot so I haven't tried that yet. And off the topic of tea ice cream that shop makes a good avocado lime ice cream too.

Yeah its really cool, its called Mallards. Its like one of the places that all the tourists and family from out of town come to visit when their in Bellingham. They make a bunch of different kinds and they rotate around. Some other weird flavors are rose, black pepper vanilla and some other random ones I can't remember. They have normal flavors too, but why try those when you can have avocado lime ice cream :D
