Wednesday TeaDay 4/29/09 TeaFortune?

by Chip » Apr 29th, '09, 00:09

Greeting everyone and welcome to TeaDay. Please come on in and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday responders voted overwhelmingly for greens as their fave tea so far this year. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. If you were a very rich man ... or woman, would you be doing anything differently in the realm of tea (just tea, not teaware, etc)? Please share some details if you please.

I am looking forward to everyone "sharing their wealth" today on TeaDay. Bottoms up!

Most definitely. I'm a college student now, my pockets are empty so the tea I can afford now isn't really top shelf. I would definitely branch out more and try a much greater variety, simply because I'd have the money to do it :)

Just spilled half a cup of rooibos all over myself. Great way to start an all nighter :P

Absolutely. I've got to budget both for good tea AND for shipping. I'd be less concerned about combining orders or waiting until I need enough tea from a single company to justify the shipping fees. I think I'd also buy more to share if I had scads of money.

I don't think I would do anything differently. Tea is cheap enough that one can taste small amounts, sample, and share most things without spending a lot. Of course the super expensive aged pu etc. would be interesting to try, but I have no strong urge to do so.

Definitely. I'd try all the higher-end koicha-s, for one thing! And I'd probably splurge on a lot of Chinese leaf teas that are currently out of budgetary reach.

And to think I just won the lottery, bought a bunch and already had your sample package ready to be mailed...oh well. I'll just throw it away, I guess.

(yes to the question!)

Most definitely. I would not just get the highest quality tea but I would probably travel to China, Japan, and India just to select it myself.

Maybe. I would raise the quality of my everyday teas a little bit. Still, I want everyday tea to put a smile on my face but not to distract me too much.

I'm finishing off open packages of oolong over the next few weeks so my daily teas are not necessarily everyday teas. Beidou No 1 this morning.

Sal, let us know how you like the SA Sencha.

Tease! You rich guys are so mean.

Pentox and I did almost same tea today, except his is Pinnacle and mine is Super Premium! What a coincidence.

Yes, most definitely! I would have a bigger house with a room just for tea, and one of those fancy tables with the tea tray built in. And of course lots of room to store and display my teaware. Also another one of those tables outside in my Japanese garden. Then I'd set up with my favorite vendors to have an auto shipment of the newest and best teas to enjoy and share with all my friends. Any of my TC friends who admired any of my teaware I'd post, I'd just surprise them and send it to them.
I'd love to be a tea philanthropist.
:)

dotK is home safely now and I am missing her already. We had a great time and some great teas. Both of us have new teaware to post. Coming soon!

Adagio Yunnan Gold to start the morning.

Have a nice day everyone!

I would buy more teas than I do now. I would be more adventurous when it came to expensive teas. Right now I only experiment with teas I am extremely curious about or if they inexpensive. (which is so objective, I know)

Some teas I am just not willing to pay the price for because money limits our choices we make. (the whole cost benefit analysis thing)

I would definitely make some changes, but it is more in terms of exploring teas at their source. I would finally be able to visit the tea gardens and see the tea being made. I would also spend far more time writing (about tea).

For now, I'm very content and am about to brew some tea for a friend. Life is good.
