TeeSmokin?

by kkthxby3 » Apr 29th, '09, 19:59

When I first got my little tins of tea and how fresh it was with the aroma and texture it reminded me of some previous experiences and got me thinking: Can you smok this stuff?

I mean, yeah, you can smok anything just about, but does smokin tee leeves provide any known benefits?

I've done some looking up online and found that green tee produces L-theanine which is a relaxant. I'm intrigued but not really feeling it's worth the hassle or possible waste to try, I enjoy drinking my tee enough but was wondering if anyone else has tried this. I'm most curious about chamomile or peppermint or something.

I wouldn't bother smokin tee, no idea about chamomile or peppermint.

I think Toki has the right idea as illustrated here. Good tee + good smoks.

It's been a while since we've had a smokin tee thread, you may hear a collective groan from a chunk of the membership.

Not the same thing, but one thing that is commonly done with green tee is to heat it up in a little device that uses a (haha) tea candle - it's like the small stands used to heat up essential oils to scent a room only it's designed to put some green tee into.

The scent is actually very nice; it doesn't really create combustion or smok, just gives enough warmth to release the scent oils in the tee. That said, the "absorbing" factor in the tee really does seem to absorb odors and replace it with the lovely tee scent.

I also have some green tee incense made by the Japanese company Baieido which is surprisingly popular among folks who prize natural incense made without synthetics (and using traditional formulas - Baieido produces incenses traditionally used in temples, religious rites and kodo practice). Their green tee incense is sold by a number of online vendors, including this one: http://www.tributetea.com/bi_green_tea.asp

Not what you mean, but "smokin tee" is a euphemism for smokin marijana as well.

You can smok tee....its dried out leaves; like tobacco. (not that you didn't know that, but it is possible)

I think it is as dumb as smokin tobacco though. I would much rather drink tee.

I'm on a studying bender atm for exams, maybe I should break out that tin of slightly stale matcha.

MOD Commentary ... there is a topic that was pulled out of the general forum (and out of reach of google) by your friendly moderators that was titled (and I will butcher it here in order to avoid googlers) Smokin GreenTee. This happened to draw not only the wrong crowd, but en masse. Prior to the Show Off topics it was the number one viewed and posted topic on the forum.

And none of them came to discuss tee per se, but how to get buzzzed smokin green tee. This did not sit well after a short period of time with the members of TeeChat who come to discuss the more serious side of tee.

For this reason, I will be watching this topic closely and editing posts to reduce the flow of googlers looking for a teeBuzzz. This is a practical editing not a commentary on my part. So, please do not be offended if your post is edited for reasons deemed necessary to avoid googlers of the "higher times."

If need be, this topic will also disappear to a place where no googler has gone before ...

lol... Was thinking, 'Did I forget to space and misspell?"

Totally cool. Was a bit confused for a moment as to why the editing but considering the similarities and the power of search engines, makes sense.

But on topic...

Janine -- I do love the smell of a lot of the tees and burning them as like an essence or an oil sounds like a good idea. One of the reasons why I was thinking about sm0k1n' the leaves is just to experience the taste and aroma in another fashion.

But lighting the tee up to use as an essence/oil sounds like a better idea especially considering the absorbent power.

I'll have to check out those gr33n tee essences.

I placed some low grade green tea, from a tea bag, into an oil burner. The smell was pretty good. I guess its a lot like roasting green tea, which I know a lot of people here like to do.

But if you do Smo-ok Some t, fill me in on the flavour and reaction. I am just curious if it even tastes good.

To smok tee... it's not good. It just hurts your lungs because it is way too harsh.

However, if you have a vaporizer, now that is amazing. I like using the cheap Lipton Cinnamon Apple that's free at my school's commons. It gives you a buzz comparable to hookah, though I doubt there are any actual health benefits. Still a lot less worse than actually lighting it on fire. I've never tried anything other than apple or lemon herbal tea, though, so I couldn't tell you if real tea would taste as good.

Good thing you nipped that one in the budd. :P
Nice color choice on the ebit btw.
“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone: “so I ca’n’t take more.”
“You mean you ca’n’t take less,” said the Hatter: “it’s very easy to take more than nothing.”
