Thursday TeaDay 4/30/09 TeaRoom Fortune?

by Chip » Apr 30th, '09, 01:34

Good TeaDay tea aficionados! Please come in and share what is in your cup today!

Yesterday most responders indicated that they would be doing things differently tea wise if they were rich. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. "If I were a rich teaman," would there be a fiddler on my TeaRoom roof? Well, not exactly. However, if you were rich, very rich, would you have a TeaRoom (JUST THE TEAROOM ASPECT) of your dreams? If yes, or sort of, please share some details.

I am looking forward to spending TeaDay on your TeaRoom roof. Bottoms up.

i said maybe ..but IF i was really that rich and had a house on oh..say the side of a mountain with some gorgeous views perhaps id build a small personal japanese style tea room. would have to open up to the outside view on one wall at least. it would not be a large formal one. really more for personal individual tea time and reflection

In my house I don't think so.

Maybe a tea garden and a tea ceremony house if I can find a teacher for tea ceremony.

Kaboku sencha this morning.

This Friday's lottery jackpot is £89 million.

I think I could spare enough to open a medium sized tearoom / hostel in each of 3 airport based cities in Northern Guangdong, Min Nan and Min Bei. With 3 (or more) small tearooms / b&b in villages at the heart of Feng Huang, Anxi and Wuyi. The managers would act as compradors to buy tea for export to my Splendid TeaRooms / B&B in South West France, South West Spain and North West England.

In my cup this morning Da Hong Pao from Yunnan Colorful

No superlatives from me, but very very pleasant drinking. $9 for 100gm.

- which turns out to be supplied from the Anjing company.

So should be the same as tea from the following vendors, but I have not compared prices!
Mine came with several items of teaware so the postage cost was insignificant!

I think the question is referring to a room dedicated for tea -- not necessarily a room that's open to the public and sells stuff, right? In that case, absolutely.

Not so much on the public store, though.

Day 5 of the tea exile. Yesterday I tried a bagged green. It was terrible.

It would be a blast to have a Japanese-style tea house.

I already have a fiddler on the roof... or under it, anyway. :D (My husband is a symphony violinist.)

Guricha this morning for me.

I would not have a dedicated tea room. I am just not the tea room kinda person. In some ways it is the less is more concept. I appreciate different methods of tea preparation, used all over the world, but I have the one or two I use. I do not need a bunch of stuff that would not get used on a regular basis. However, if there was a reason to use them on a regular basis, I minght. i.e. I would be prone to open up a tea room as a business though...like this one, it is my fav in town.

When I first read the poll, I was thinking TeaRoom as in a commercial enterprise... not as a haven in my home. I don't really want to run a business, but would love to have a fancy-shmancy Asian-inspired tearoom in my dream home. So... I say yes.

Matcha Kaoru Organic from O-Cha in my Hagi Seigan chawan. I like the bowl better than the matcha, it's just "ok". One more session and that tin will be gone, and I won't really miss it. I fortunately have an order from O-Cha with my SHINCHA and some Kiri no Mori on the way. :D

Happy tea day to all,

Sarah

I definitely would have a little room in the Japanese style, for which I have a very weak spot. Some sort of tea room/meditation chamber, with a view of the ocean and very orderly, hi-tech, airtight shelves with all kinds of tea and paraphernalia. And while I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony.

(In other news, I'm not dead, despite my long absence. I just had to concentrate on other stuff for a while, is all.)

Lovely White Peony today. It goes great with the fine weather. Sunshine and everything. Oh yes.

Yes, most definitely. As I sort of got ahead of the poll yesterday, I'd love to have a tearoom in my house and an outside one too, a small free standing one in my Japanese Garden.

Welcome back Trey, long time no see!

My tea this morning: Glenburn Wiry Traditional Darjeeling from TeaSource.

Have a nice day everyone!

Yes - I always find a place of peace and serenity to drink my tea (or coffee early AM ) and clear my thoughts for the day. A small tearoom would be great as long as there was a view and access to the outdoors.

This is very odd - I am not only drinking green tea "straight"! - I am admiring the leaves - Sencha premier and gryokuro are prettiest in my opinion. I never did that before. I think I brewed the sencha too strongly this morning. Its puckering my mouth up.
Which cracks me up.

I'm afraid I've been absorbed into the group mind!

I think not.

Unless I opened it as a business. I'm too blue collar to have a tea room for just my use. Besides I've done restaurant management in the past...it's in my blood!

Lumbini Estate tea in the mug today.
