Saturday TeaRoom 5/02/09 Fave movie of all time?

by Chip » May 1st, '09, 23:29

Hello everyone, and welcome to a TeaRoom TeaDay! Please stop by and share what is in your cup today!

Yesterday the vast majority of responders indicated there would be teaware changes if they were very rich! You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaRoom poll and discussion topic takes us off of tea and onto the big screen. Out of the list of top movies listed in a reader poll by Mr. Showbiz, were any your fave, or close to it? Of course this leads to discussion of what is your fave movie of all time? Please share.

The complete poll is located here! This might jar your memory a bit. The list is far from perfect nor is it complete.

I am looking forward sharing tea and a movie with everyone today! Bottoms up.

I'm not much at picking favorites, though I must say I detest Gone With the Wind. I would rank most of the others pretty high in my own estimation.

This pic of a 2006 Feng Huang Shui Xian marks my 365th consecutive TeaDay photo post.

Has anyone availed themselves of the Lochan Teas First Flush offer of 12 one-oz samples of 2009 FF for $35? I can’t think of any reason not to order it except the usual: I already have way too much tea.

Of the few you listed from the list, I'd have to go with Raiders. It's fun, interesting, Harrison Ford is da man! and it's one of those movies that I always end up watching when it comes on.

But there are other movies on that list that I really love, that beat Raiders. My #1 on the list is probably Bladerunner (another Harrison Ford movie, lol.) I'd give my personal top 10 nod to Vertigo, Unforgiven, Back to the Future (c'mon! I was barely a teenager and IN LOVE with Mike,) Heat, Cuckoo's Nest, Rebel Without a Cause, Terminator/T2, and Shawshank Redemption.

Like Sal, I detest Gone With the Wind, although I've read the book twice, and loved it both times.

Congrats and many thanks, Sal for adding color to TD for the last 365 days. I know I do not say it enough, but it is appreciated!

Hear hear! Salsero's fantastic photo-of-the-day is the first thing I look for when I read TeaDay :D

My favourite film is "none of the above", namely the hauntingly lovely Housekeeping with Christine Lahti (who says here that the script was the best she ever saw).

I just started watching Doubt which so far looks like a really good movie, but for a former Catholic school student it's a trip and a half!

Of the movies listed, Silence of the Lambs is my favorite. My real favorite movie is Easy Rider, though.

Another all nighter? What?! Coffee in my cup right now, tea just doesn't have the kick I need. I could go for some mate, but coffee tastes better :P

I was enjoying some Earl Grey Bravo a few hours back, though.

I don't have any all time favorite movies.
Some of my favorite film directors: Fritz Lang, Ernst Lubitsch, Louis Feuillade, Joel and Ethan Coen, Hayao Miyazaki and Terrence Malick.
If I had really to pick one maybe Days of heaven .

Kaboku sencha this morning.

Napoleon Dynamite a pretty close second.

EW

Favorite Movie? Yikes. I can't pick one. I love several from the list and my tastes can vary depending on the mood I'm in. I adore old movies and enjoy quite a few new ones.

I need to go make tea...

From the films available on the list I of course love Star Wars (The original trilogy) and E.T. is wonderful as well but I wouldn't go so far as to claim any of those films as being my favorite based on the actions of Lucas and Spielberg who have, for me, ruined the films between the careless SW prequels, not to forget that hideously animated Clone Wars film, and then the re-release of all four films that isn't at all recognizable to the originals.

My favorite movie then would have to be... I don't know. I'm not one to really watch a movie again after having had already viewed it but there are numerous exceptions such as "Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion" which is by far one of my most favorite films but certainly not the only as the original, untainted SW trilogy which be just as much as are several films from the Disney renaissance period such as "The Little Mermaid" and "The Lion King." Can't forget the "Brave Little Toaster" either. There are other movies that would be favorites too but none come to mind atm.

I do tend to enjoy movies from the '80s and '90s best though as well as the '70s.

I still think Star Wars is very well made, and it totally blew me away when I first watched it on my parents' grainy black and white TV at age eleven. One of the most powerful movie experiences I've had (yes, I'm a nerd).

Having some Sencha today, just because I can.

Couldn't really decide, so I went with Pulp Fiction as I've seen it the most.

I think Time Bandits may be my favourite film of all time. It was my favourite film as a kid and now I have my daughter as an excuse for watching it repeatedly again it's climbing back up the ranks.

365! Go Sal. I think I take your pics here for granted a little but thank you for adding a little beauty to the place every day.

My Lochan Tea offer is on the way Salsero, can't wait.

In my cup: Sae Midori from O-cha
