Cool, looks interesting. Thanks for the link. Fun to see all the stuff.

You do know the Expo is for Vendors only? Not for consumers.
Too bad, huh? I love to look at new tea stuff. Not to mention
trying them!

Adagio was talking about this at last year's show. R&D can take a while, but I would check out the site and look for announcements.

Agreed. Quite the fan of the brushed steel design...
We were fated to pretend.

That's the kettle I was planning on buying. It looks like this new model has many more temperature settings than the current model.

It also looks a little larger, I hope. Hopefully it will come out soon. It sucks that Adagio doesn't have phone support. I'll try sending them an email. And yeah, the brushed metal does look a little better. Did anyone here at TeaChat go to the expo and ask about this? This kettle would be great for doing Gong Fu in my bedroom. Any more info would be great.

Thanks. :)

I just got an email from Adagio. That was a pretty fast response. The new utiliTEA model should be available later this year or early 2010. :( The retail price will be $99. The body will be stainless steel, similar to the existing model. I guess I'll get the current model now and upgrade if I really like it. I hope this info was helpful.

Thanks for the fast response Adagio. :)

Any word on whether the new UtiliTea will be available outside the contiguous United States? (The current one isn't  )

$99? Wow. It'll have to be a LOT better for being twice the price.

Also, I hope it comes in black. White/metal don't match my decor at all.

anymore news on it? My kettle is dying (its takin forever to boil water), so Im looking for a replacement.

Are the only advantages: more temp settings and larger capacity?

That's what I was thinking too. If thats it, I might just go with the current gen utilitea.

I just got my 1st utiliTEA (current model). Can anyone help me with some info on the variable temp settings? The brochure does explain the black and green settings but there are quite a few white bars between those two settings and then more below the green tea setting. My fav is Ti Kwan Yin but I'm not sure what bar to set it on.

Can anyone give me some hints on using those white bars for temp? As it is, it looks like I'll still be taking a temp reading. Help. :) Thanks ahead of time.

Hi Barb, the best thing to do is to do a few tests. Even though I have this model, I usually set to boil anyway, then cool as I prepare to brew. This just works for me.

But since each unit could have some degree of variability, a few tests with a thermometer will give you accurate temps for your individual unit.

Welcome to the forum, Barb!

And I repeat my question :D

I'm not asking so much for myself (I'm quite happy with the older model I got on eBay back when) ... but rather, for the MANY other Adagio customers and TeaChatters who live outside the United States.

Hows about a built n thermo?
Not a "heat til" but a real temp.
Then I don't need to check.
