Farmer's shincha is interesting. It's most akin to Aracha. I'm not 100% sure it's the exact same thing, but by description, appearance and taste it seems pretty close.
Meaning it has everything in it. From stem to little leaf bits to different sizes of leaf, it's all in there. It has a unique taste to it. Compared to one of the sorted sencha varieties I haven't done a direct comparison, but it's going to be more rounded, and complicated flavor. Sencha superior would be like the string section of your High School band, whereas Farmer's Shincha would be the whole band.

Pretty much as Pentox has already said. It is simply a Shincha version of Farmer tea, aka aracha. It has been processed all the way up to the sorting, and since it has not been sorted, it is generally more economical.
Aracha is stored in large bales in cold storage until it is needed for final processing throughout the year, when it generally is sorted and then packaged. Shincha version is packaged immediately for sale.
I guess every Japanese tea fan should try farmer tea at least once.

I'm glad you asked because I was looking at it too. Maybe I'll give it a go.kikkuman wrote:Is this worth trying? How does it compare to their sencha superior?
