Great news! TeawareArtisans Forum added

by Chip » May 5th, '09, 21:01

http://www.teachat.com/viewforum.php?f=40

I am quite happy to announce that I have been given the virtual go ahead to create a new forum on TeaChat for exclusively "TeawareArtisans!" TeaChat will have its own forum to promote the TeaArts! I hope you will share my excitement!

This is something I have been thinking about for a while and recent activity has led me to believe its time has come. It will be located under the TeaCommunity category of TeaChat.

In this new forum, artisans will be encouraged, invited, welcome to create their own topic where they can post photos of their work, site/contact info, updates and more. The best part, artisans can interact with members of TC and discuss their work. It will be their topic! The current forum rules will be relaxed within this subforum, hopefully no pesky moderator quoting forum rules, etc.

Also, members can invite artisans to come to TeaChat and create their own topic under this forum. I expect this will be mostly Western Hemisphere artisans, but it will likely be open to any and all artisans.

Any member who has a TeaCraft, etc., may also create their topic.

Look for it in a few days hopefully.

Chip

I think this is a fantastic idea! I hope that we will have some of these artisans participating in the main forums also, as a result. Thanks!

One goal is to have an outlet for them to take care of the presentation and direct discussion specifically of their works, so there are not the awkward moments that are common under "Teaware." Thus eliminating the recent gray areas.

It is my hope as well that they then in turn participate in the general forum in a more general way.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

It will be fun to explore what different artisans have to offer ... but I see my credit card balance rising already!

Glad to hear this news. What better way for tea drinkers to talk with makers of equipment for better insight and understanding.

Kudos, Chip.

being one who does this as a hobby i look forward to input from fellow tea drinkers for ideas and suggestions on tea ware. i have just started making my own and when i do so i usually make extra in case of failure in the kiln. it is this sort of opportunity to talk with others who drink tea and use specific tea ware that i believe will ultimately bring about the production of an American tea art. not that it does not already exist but in a way that will become the melting pot of unique and utilitarian American tea ware. everyone knows there are specific was to brew different types of tea but in some cases here in the Americas it is hard to get what is needed and /or it might be impractical. so with this new introduction to teachat comes a new practicality in tea wear. some might be able to get what they always wanted and never thought of till now.

thanks for opening up such a great opportunity for potters and tea drinkers alike. i see new american made tea ware in the future for everyone . :o :D :D :D

I am excited about this as well! i am a big proponent of supporting "local" potters and artisans whenever possible. Sure..I love my authentic Hagi and other wares but love supporting our homegrown ones too! ETSY!
