Friday TeaDay 5/08/09 Brew variable finale!?!

by Chip » May 8th, '09, 01:19

Welcome everyone to TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.

Please look for the introduction of the TeawareArtisans subforum which will be located under TeaCommunity category of TeaChat. Support the TeaArts!

Yesterday most responders indicated that time was at least very important when brewing their favorite type of tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. We come to a fitting conclusion to this week's theme. It seemed most responders throughout the week indicated every variable was very important. But what is most important when brewing your favorite type of tea? Please pick your ranking of all 4 variables (in the poll, I had to limit it to top two due to option limitations) ... and then discuss.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on TeaDay. Bottoms up.

I picked leaf amount and time, since temperature seems at least partially dictated by the type of tea.

Temperature and time for me.... of course, I take all of it seriously when brewing tea.

My evenings have been crowded for the last couple days, so I've only been able to enjoy tea in the mornings. As such, I decided to keep on going w/ this pot of ali shan. But this week a bunch of pu'erh orders came in, so I now have a massive backlog of tasting to catch up on. . . ahh, what a nice dilemma to have! :D

I voted leaf amount and time, but I'm not OCD about my tea! :D I try to "follow the rules" and am generally please with my cup of tea.

After much deliberation, meditation and agonizing soul searching I came down on leaf and temp.

The White Symphony I'm enjoying now doesn't seem to be excessively sensitive to steeping time, although there are limits, apparently.

Good TeaDay everyone!

Amount of leaf, temp, time, and then vessel. I think. The question is pretty cruel and unusual punishment for the OCD. 8)

Began the TeaDay with a new opening of shincha Kirameki hand picked from O-Cha from Tsuen Tea Shop. Brewed light this time. SweeTea wanted some shincha. Pyrit, Lil Bit were just being disruptive at the TeaTable and might get banned.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Leaf and time.

Had my first cup of Darjeeling Singbulli DJ17 "Flower" today. As the name suggests this is a tea with strong floral tones, it smelled like a rose garden when I poured the brewed tea. I'm not good at identifying different floral aromas, so I will leave that to the experts. But there certainly are a bouquet of different floral aromas, but I also detect more grassy twist to it. There is also the familiar Darjeeling slight astringency.
All in all a very good tea, people who love floral teas should love this.

Ah! Is it the horse gaiwan from jing teashop? Your photo shows the lovely texture of the porcelain much better than their website photo! And it's sold out already

I am not sure what my favorite tea is :P I guess, some kind of oolong, most of the time. I chose leaf amount and temperature.

Leaf amount and temp; in my (limited) experience good teas are often forgiving ont the time.

Drinking Extra Green Genmaicha from Den's this morning--nice and toasty :)

Leaf amount and time.

This morning I'm enjoying a whole leaf peach black tea that I had picked up on a closeout sale for $2.00, along with other teas. A very good value for a selection of teas that I load up into a thermos for taking on the road.

Leaf amount and time. Just about all my favorite teas come out best with water at or near boiling, so I don't worry about that much.

Right now, another cup of Assam Bargang is calling. I'm draggin' today.
