Greeting everyone and welcome to TeaDay. Please come in and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday responders top pick was a dream destination to an exotic land, international. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. As I observe new and old drinkers of tea, one thing stands out. Individual TeaJourneys can be very slow to lightning fast. How would you rate the progress of your personal TeaJourney? Please discuss why.
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay and TeaJourneys with everyone. Bottoms up.

Gyokuro and hickory nuts
I feel that I got off to a very fast start a couple years ago because I did a lot of chat, read a lot of internet, and tried a little of everything I could get my hands on. The learning has slowed down enormously as I have become comfortable with a superficial knowledge of a lot and an in-depth knowledge of nothing.

my tea habit started off slowly. i was more into coffee roasting than good tea at the beginning of my tea journey.
suddenly one day, my tea rocket ship that had been stalling for a while decided to blast off and took me by surprise. i discovered teachat, started reading way too much, learned quite a bit (for a noob), spent a bunch of money, and established a tea stash with quite good variety.
lately, my journey has become more retarded. in a similar fashion to that of sal's and geek's now retarded learning. i think i realized that i was buying tea faster than i was drinking it and so the purchasing slowed. i learned all about the teas i had instock and tweaked out the brewing parameters. i stopped seeking info on teas i didn't already own because i knew that would just tempt me to order more.
i'm almost out of sencha for the first time in like a year, so i'll be ordering some more soon. this will likely spark my interest in other teas people are recommending now and i'll end up going into massive debt for the sake of my renewed tea craze. thanks a bunch teachat!!!!

+1 as well...Salsero wrote:I feel that I got off to a very fast start a couple years ago because I did a lot of chat, read a lot of internet, and tried a little of everything I could get my hands on. Of course, if fast and very fast become the norm, doesn't that make them average?
Anyway, I decided this morning to continue with the 2004 Xia Guan Gold Ribbon tuo that I started yesterday... I'll move to something different this evening.
I went kind of mental in the start. Bought a lot of different teas and tea accessories to try out, I also read a lot on tea in the start. Now I've calmed down a bit and focus more on the enjoying part, feel that I know the basics now. I still enjoy learning about tea, just don't have the intense need to do it so lightning fast.
Not sure what tea I will start with today, depends on if there is something in the mail today

fast too. I went and bought every tea I could find to compare and try. Within a week, I probably had more tea than the average British household goes through in a month...
and it never got a whole lot better. The only ones beating me now are probably Victoria and maybe China when it comes to collecting tea.

I had a lovely, albeit fast-paced Mother's Day weekend. It included 2 breakfasts prepared by DH, lunch with my daughters on Saturday, visiting both 'Moms' for their special day on Sunday and off to work for me both days!
Best part, spending time with the family and my gift of gyo from Den's. It was in our cups this morning, and I will defer to Chip for the name of this delicious tea. It's awful that I have such a hard time remembering all the names of the teas we share. It was good, but by Chip's own admission, needs a bit of tweaking as we both agreed.
As for my tea journey, definately had a very slow start, but quickly moved into warp speed!
Hey, I live w/ Captain Picard, ooh, I mean Chip, what can I say?
I hope everyone shares a cup of tea with someone today.

Life-long journey.
For some of us inculcated in tea drinking early on, the pleasure of taking tea is life-long. I voted 'not slow, not fast'.
"I have been drinking teas casually for a long time so I said "not slow not fast"..BUT..if we talk about delving into the finer teas then it really picked up the pace last year and took off once I hit these forums"
This is true - tea drinking has become more interesting and varied due largely to exposure to new teas, teaware and infusion techniques here at TC.
Keemun this morning.

I guess I will say slow, because I have been drinking tea since childhood, but I didn't really get into it until about 4 years ago. At that time things starting moving faster and faster till I found this board and then wow, crazy fast.
In my cup again this morning Balasun First Flush from SpecialTeas.
My favorite of the '09 FF so far.
Have a nice day everyone!
