Good TeaDay everyone. Please stop in and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday most responders indicated they began their TeaDays within the first 60 minutes of beginning their Day. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
In response to yesterday, since it seems so many people begin their TeaDay so soon after getting up, one has to wonder, do you crave your first tea of the day the "mostest?" Please share which tea of the day do you crave the most. And why?
I am looking forward to sharing the TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up.

I said maybe yes, although when busy I often go the whole morning without tea. Let's say I do when I have time to do so!

There are times I really look forward to my tea in the morning or well, anytime, but I won't say I crave it. I don't have the negative feelings associated with a craving just the anticipation of some really good tea. The closest I've come is really wanting and looking forward to the YM shincha the morning after I got the brewing down pat. I love my tea but I also love coffee.
Twinnings oolong at work this am and looking forward (

The 'craving' for tea first thing in the morning has become a constant for me in the last few months.Trey Winston wrote:Yes, that first hit is usually preceded by a certain amount of craving.
This morning shared a lovely session w/ DH of Sencha the Ultimate from Zencha.
Great way to start my very busy day and busy week with wedding and prom floral work taking up most of the week!
BTW, did everyone OD on tea over the weekend, where is everyone?

Have a TEArific day today.
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Why do we favor malty teas in the morning?
Strong flavor, sure (our sensory processing centers aren't at their best first thing in the morning because they need a jolt of cortisol and glucose - they are physically adjacent nuclear signaling receptors - to become fully active).
Some of us need those special amino acids for making stress-dampening anti-oxidants that help counter over-induction of cortisol by mid-morning.
Craving? You betcha and for dashed good reason.
If you've taken a peek at the black tea subforum chitchat here lately, you've seen mention of beer. Same effect? You betcha! Works wonders later in the day, when environmental stressor load peaks. No surprise that in certain parts of the world, it was *the* 'safe' beverage (when water contamination issues were rampant) for many centuries.
Food for thought, with your tea this morning.
Scots Breakfast in the cup.

Yes, I do crave tea in the morning, but I don't know if it's an actual physical need for it or just that it's part of my routine. Probably both.
There are other times that I just gotta have it, though, not just in the morning.
Nilgiri Glendale Handmade this morning at home. I haven't decided on my work tea today, my stock is a bit low so the choices are limited!

Crave my morning tea, I start craving my morning tea the night before, so yeah, most definitely. The craving seems to stem from a purposeful deprivation (or I would never sleep), sounds a bit like an addiction, perhaps, I do have an addictive personality.
Began the TD with as you know with Sencha the Ultimate with DW. It was most excellent today.
Currently Mugi/roasted corn tea from Korea.

Yes, most definitely for me. Since I can't have tea too late in the day or I won't be able to sleep. Yet I crave it at night and so by morning I am really craving it! But I also have different cravings call to me all day, especially since I purpose to start the day with Black tea, at some point comes the strong craving for a good oolong.
2009 FF Darjeeling Steinthal in my cup this morning.
Then on to Baozhong some hot and the rest on ice for the afternoon.
