Good TeaDay everyone. Please stop by and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday most responders indicated begininning their second session less than 3 hours after their first session. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Do you ever have the same tea twice successively, or in the same day? Do you avoid this occurrence, ardently even?
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone ... bottoms up ...

i voted no, i don't think so but i'm really somewhere between that and the NEVER like the plague. i love green tea but also oolong, hojicha, black, pu.... so i, so far, have always made something different- even before becoming a teachatter- but its not like i make a point to avoid it- just that i would prefer something different.
c-word in my mug today- parent conference this am so maybe some green when i get to work so i have something calm and delicious to sip on during the meeting.

On a rare occasion, I might. Upon further reflection, I think I'm more likely to have a second session w/ the same tea if I had a short series of infusions (or one-shots like matcha). I don't think I've ever picked up a second session with a tea that I've just had 15 infusions of....
Yesterday was extremely busy after work and I only had about an hour at home in total before having to go to bed. And so now I'm being lazy this morning, and I'm still nursing that pot of 1960s Guang Yun Gong... hrm.

Nice photo Sal, but it is not cheering me up today!Salsero wrote:I think an emphatic NEVER is the appropriate answer here for me.
One of my Maples is dying - katsura, and I don't know why

I voted Yes, I cycle round my teas, but each tea I come to I have 2, 3 or 4 sessions with before moving on.
Sometimes just because it is the tea I am ON!
Sometimes to try different brewing tactics, or compare Gaiwan and Yixing!
Or sometimes just because I love it and don't want to say goodbye to an Old Friend even though there are New Friends knocking at the door, ringing the phone or shouting "Drink ME" down the chimney!
Best wishes from Cheshire
Variety (and tea) is the spice of life
I try to avoid having the same tea consecutively because the variety is perhaps the major appeal that tea has for me.
I'll start today with genmaicha.
I'll start today with genmaicha.
I often have the same tea twice because I get into a particular craving that can't be shaken off. I don't consider a single session of tea complete until I have exhausted the leaves... so I don't usually have two complete sessions of the same tea consecutively other than Darjeeling, which doesn't hold up for as many infusions of the same leaf.
It is very ironic that this is the poll question today, because I was thinking this morning of suggesting a similar poll question of... do you ever deliberately avoid or deprive yourself of a favorite tea for a few days to enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of it? Familiarity breeds contempt, and all that jazz.
I haven't had any shincha for about 5 days... brewed some Fukamushi Supreme this morning and it was just like Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that's so good. I was drinking shincha every day, several times per day after it first arrived... and I think a deliberate break was a very good thing for me.
Happy tea day to everyone,
Sarah

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***
Maybe (on any given day)
Already mentioned:
Iced Tea
Working out brewing particulars for a new tea
Working out brewing particulars for new teaware
Or, maybe a cup morning and afternoon if it's a favorite tea - (horrors!).
English Breakfast in the cup. Think I may amend this blend with a bit of Keemun Special because it's lacking a bit of brightness.
