Leaking bamboo tray

by brose » Jun 4th, '09, 22:27

Hi,

I have a fantastically large bamboo tray that I bought at my local teashop a couple of months ago. I believe I am keeping it too dry becasue the tray now leaks where the tray top meets the tray top border. I know I can just soak it in water for some time to have it become a tight seal again, but I dont want to haev to do it every few weeks like I have been. Does anyone know of any sealers or ways to seal where the leak is without making the finish look really bad?

Thanks

stuff cotton or wool thread into the cracks. after stuffing, use sealants with high flowability or a type of glue often called "super glue" or "crazy glue". leave it for few hrs. but ofcourse ensure the tray is dry to start with. moisture will change the chemical composition of glues and sealants when setting adversely affecting the properties.
