I chose tea addict because it is my other 'online pseudonym' 老茶鬼 LaoChaGui. Gui in Chinese is ghost. When you add it to the word for wine (酒鬼), it means alcoholic, when you add it to the word for tobacco, (烟鬼) it means smoker. A tea friend of mine says I drink a lot of tea, and I am an 'Old Tea Ghost' basically a confirmed tea addict.

All joking aside, I think tea student is the best one. There will always be more to learn about tea, because new harvests come out every season of every year.

Had a Lao Dongding today. Feeling sick, so I am finishing old samples. Looking forward to a 1990s Hongshui once I get my sense of taste/smell back.

I'm a lover, not a fighter. :D

Still sipping some SLT Darjeeling from earlier in the day... in my cucumber-glaze Hagi yunomi! :D

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***

Most of those titles could be used to describe me (esp. "tea snob" and "tea novice"), but "tea lover" seems to sum it up nicely.

Being quite the snob with SN today. Yet itching to order something new. A yellow, possibly.

My initial reaction was 'explorerer'.... so I went with "brewer."

This morning, I am exploring a new (to me) tea... at 1980s Xiaguan tuo tea. I started it last night, but couldn't taste a thing through 5 cups! What a shame. I think I must have burnt my tongue or mouth... this morning, I'm finally getting some nice flavor from the tea. I will be enjoying this tea for the rest of the day.

Tea Lover.

I think there's still some Yunnan Noir in the cabinet...
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Mmmmm, tea lover...but I almost went with tea student...I am loving the tea but all there is to learn around tea is increasingly fascinating.

Now may family would say "tea addict"...the kids have a running bit about my addiction to "the leaf" and how it's all about the "pot" and how I'm so hooked that I even carry my "greens" around in baggies.

This morning Nilgiri Glendale in my cup and travel mug.

Have an awesome day, All,
Dreamer

While I certainly could consider myself a tea lover... I feel it more apropos for me to call myself a tea student.

There are just so many things I have yet to do. From formalized tastings to gong fu. I finally tried my first Pu'erh last night and loved it.

I am working on filling in the gaps in my knowledge while on this adventure called tea. :-)

In my cup this morning: Superior Ti Kuan Yin from Speacial Teas.

I voted 'tea lover' because it sums up much about how I approach tea and tea knowledge. The journey is a total joy!

This morning Darjeeling 22

I went with Tea Lover... there are a few others that might apply but not as fully. Non-tea people would probably call me a Tea Geek, though. :)

Vietnamese vanilla this morning. I'm grouchy today but it is through no fault of the tea.

Student

by Intuit » Jun 12th, '09, 09:59

Tea requires a lifetime to learn and master; 'tis the journey, the loving process of learning leaf, vessel and technique, that is vital to enjoyment and comprehension.

Always, a student of the leaf.

Fresh sencha in the cup. Now waiting on two orders (Japanese greens and oolongs) to arrive and looking to order a few whites.

Tea lover here!

Nilgiri Glendale in my cup today too, Dreamer!

Tonight - tomorrow is our local Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) and I'm trying to get a good caffeine buzz on to go set up our spot on the track! I think I'm off to a good start with a huge mug of Nilgiri at home and a travel mug full here at work!

Happy Friday everyone!
