What are you lusting after now?

by clareandromeda » Jun 13th, '09, 18:23

teaware is so addictive I figure I'm not the only one with a wish list. I'm lusting after 2 pairs of yunomis from hibiki-an:

total $104 USD :(
Handcrafted teacup: 160ml (5.63fl oz)
Sophisticated Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto Style)
Made by Toan Dobuchi

and this pair

total: $73 USD
Handcrafted teacup: pair: 120ml (4.22fl oz) each
Traditional Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto style)
Made by Kohsei Katoh
Mr. Kohsei Katoh was born in 1957. His style is precise, delicate and unique.

I adore them both but they dont really fit in my budget....yet. Anyone else lusting?

I've been lusting after an actual yixing pot... I hadn't chosen one in particular yet.

Also lusting after a tea table, but I'm waiting 'til after I move to look into larger things like a tea tray/table.

Also a proper scale and thermometer, because I am in fact a geek. :)

I just discovered a new potter and I am seriously wanting some of his work.
I have invited him to the Artisan Forum, just amazing bowls:

Three things...
First, (and we ordered this yesterday, so now it is just a few days wait) a new digital camera. Our old one has served us well, but now it never "turns off", so every time I use it I have to take out the batteries or the next time they are dead...argh. AND we "need" a new camera anyway...my son is a high-school swimmer and this fall I will be one of two "senior moms", so I've got to take lots of high-quality-stop-action-close-up photos for the CD that all the boys take home to commemorate their season. I may occasionally take pictures of tea

Second, I want a purple chawan...Victoria posted a picture once with matcha in a purple chawan and it was beautiful. I've requested to have a pair made, but so far the bowls have not allowed themselves to be realized...first set was destroyed on their way to the kiln by a falling object...second set got "chicken pox" when the glaze was fired...no word since then...beautiful art is not instant.

Third, I'm kinda liking the looks of this http://www.mightyleaf.com/Teaware_Trave ... el-Teapot/ I think it could throw it in a suitcase and it would serve me well on trips....but would it be better than just grabbing my travel mug and infuser? Maybe I like it just because it is a "pot".

Ahhh, the joys of shopping,
Dreamer

When I look at all of the beautiful stuff posted here on TeaChat, I get a bad case of teaware lust, but it wears off after a while! I guess if I had some extra funds, I would want these things:

1. a chawan, matcha, and all the preparation tools.
2. a tea tray
3. a couple of "good" yixing pots. (I only have one, and I haven't seasoned it yet - it is a cheapie also)
4. some foo dogs
5. some of the really cool pots and teaware posted by chicago potter, bonjiri, moss, zygote, and little pig on the artisan thread.

I guess I have a more extensive list than I thought!

Same here, funds are my biggest issue. If I had the money I'd want:
1. (from coloradoPu)
Image
2. (from Cory Lum)

3. my matcha bowl broke last week so this one to replace it (from coloradoPu)
Image
4. A tea tray....I'm actually hand carving one myself :P
5. A new kettle
