Tuesday TeaDay 6/16/09 10,000th pu-erh post, do you drink it

by Chip » Jun 16th, '09, 01:43

Welcome TeaFriends and welcome to TeaDay. Please come in and share what is in your cup today ... all day.

Yesterday responders indicated their personal "tea"ism. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. The Pu-Erh subforum of TeaChat celebrates its 10,000th post today, the first tea subforum to do so. So, I figure some kind of pu-erh topic is appropriate. This may have been asked a long time ago, but ... do you drink pu-erh? If yes, how often, if no are you considering it?

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Hmmm, wonder who will be lucky number 10,000.

I tend to at least exhaust one session everyday. Couldn't end my day without some pu to relax me.

I've only tired it once in the form of a compressed little nugget of tea the size of a grape. It produced a bitter brew that I wasn't all that keen to try again. However, reading the puerh posts I can see that this tea is much more than that.

Roasted kukicha to end the day.

I drink pu-erh occasionally...so far only have a couple of tuochas and a package of good maocha so I don't drink it all that often...most of my tea budget seems to go into oolongs.

Tried it a couple months ago and liked it-so far I've had a sample bag I received with an order, Funalliance's 2003 cake and some mini touchas which aren't perhaps of the best quality but are dead handy for work.

Right now I'm looking at my near-empty glass of cheap loose leaf Yunnan and wondering if it's time for a refill.

Haven't tried it, but it's on the Things To Do-list for my TeaCareer. No need to try everything right away, it can be good to have something to look forward to.

No tea so far today, too busy out of the house.

Hrm, I'd say 80% of the tea I drink is pu'erh, and about 90% of the tea I own. I went so obsessed off the bat, I even bought a dedicated humidor to store the tea. Good stuff!

And yet this morning, I usually stay away from pu'erh, partly because I'm only going to get a cup or two before I leave for work. So this morning I'm having a white peony from Andao. Mmmmmmm.

Pretty much every day, but not all day.
Here is yesterday’s dry leaf brewed into rewarding old tea broth ... and a mythological beast that escaped from Sunday's poll!

I've never tried pu, but I have never enjoyed any tea that had even a hint of smokiness to it so I figured it wouldn't be for me.

Yes, on occasion. I have really enjoyed some of what I have tried. Parts, not as much. I have as yet to really devote any time to getting into it.

In my cup this morning Balasun Estate FF Darjeeling.

Have a nice day everyone!

Yorkshire Gold in my cup this morning.

I've had Pu-Erh one time and it was ok. I've not had a yearning to try it again.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.
