SUPER COOL NEW TEA MAKER!

by super teagirl » Jun 25th, '09, 12:35

Has anyone seen the cool new tea makers from Takeya? I went to a tea show and saw them - - UH...MAZING! They have 4-8 serving tea makers with infusers that screw into the lid which is great for loose leaf teas..those who still tea bag can even pop the bags into the infuser for easy clean-up.

The design is tre chic and this sucker is totally functional - dishwasher safe and they are chemical free! Yeah I said it and it's true!! I sweet talked one away from the owner of the company - a nice dude and VERY knowledgable about tea.

I have used it to make tea almost everyday and it's so easy. Oh yeah, almost forgot - its got an airtight lid so when I take it to work it doesn't spill and stays warm and yummy. This thing is so buck! I guess the company is new and they don't have them for sale until the fall but I HIGHLY reccommend this to all of you - my fellow tea nuts. I'm going to buy some for gifts too as soon as they are available! Yay!

here's to happy tea making....super teagirl

I'm guessing your talking about the bottom left product: Products Page
Looks like it would be a good cold brewing container.

Oh my god! I need to get one of these things right now! I've been thinking of dumping all my dozens of antique yixing pots anyway for something more functional and this is IT!

I can't WAIT till it hits the market!

MarshalN- I will gladly trade you a glass pitcher and infuser basket for all of your antique yixing ware. I'll even paint the handle so it looks like the picture :)

But why would you want those when you can have these GREAT PITCHERS?

Of course I wouldn't use them. I would look at them while I used my new pitcher.

You can even serve dry cat food in it!!
I'll need an extra one for my Rudi-boy.
I should probably get different colors so
I don't mix them up.

YA YA! that's the one. I didn't realize there was a picture on the website of it. I hadn't even looked at the other stuff. I don't have a cat, but I could probably find other uses for the other stuff - I like the way it all looks! Ha! for those of you that think I sound like a commercial....you should hear me rave about my car! My VW Passat gets the best gas mileage EVER - I cannot say enough about it either! Seriously - best car I ever had...but I'd better stick to tea.

Also, I am looking for a really good Iced tea recipe. Anyone got one? My parental unit doesn't like the taste of iced tea, she says it's bitter and she's not a sugar fan. What's a super teagirl to do?

Put leaves in a jug, fill jug with cold water, stick it in the fridge for a day, it'll do the job.

Super Teagirl is the perfect name for you. In 5-7 years though you'll become cranky and jaded and have to change it to like, "not super anymore because I hate my immature boyfriend teagirl" or some equivalent maybe " Super in debt to college loans teagirl"

Enjoy your youth my dear! :)

I put about 1.5 times the amount of leaves I would use for normal brewing in a jar. Fill the jar with water (cold increases the time, hot decreases) and let it sit in the fridge for about 4-6 hours. Anymore than that and it starts to taste bitter to me. Once the times up, strain and return to jar. I'd say it would probably keep for about 1 and a half weeks but it never lasts that long. This works really well for flavored tea but DO NOT use it for herbal teas that contain fruit or flowers it can be unsafe from what I've read.
