Great photos, John- I have very fond memories of that informal ceremony, plus- I learned a lot.

I saw the photos earlier. Some rather interesting chawans there, though like almost all ceramics I think if I held them in person it would make or break my feelings about them. But they look interesting, and definitely great for someone so new to Chawans and Chanoyu.

Neat stuff--from 'I'd be proud to say I made that' to 'cool!'

The juried teabowls from the annual "
Kansas City Teabowl National 2012" are posted online and also can be purchased online via Paypal and the shopping cart system they have set up.
http://teabowlnational.weebly.com/2012-teabowls.html
The piece that I submitted for this show was specifically intended for Chanoyu, so the Ido-style Chawan included here is well suited for that somethat specialized usage, although it would of course work well for "home use" also. Most of my "teawares" are targeted to actual Chado useage rather than what might be called "teabowls about the concepts surrounding the teabowl".
Click on the bowl image there to see a larger picture.
You can see another of my chawan posted in the 2010 section of the website also.
(Didn't submit to the 2011 competition ....busy year.)
best,
...............john

As winter arrives in full force this week and December comes rapidly to a close, I wanted to say "
Happy New Year" to everyone here on TeaChat. May you have a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2013.

Missed the three new Chawan somehow! They look amazing. I have oddly been getting more and more attracted to well placed finger swipes in glazes.
I hope the winter hasn't been to hard on you and your property. I always enjoy seeing your works, so hopefully more get posted soon.

Adam....... ask and ye' shall recieve.......
This basically black and white Chawan below is one of the three that I have selected to send off to the invitational
International Chawan Expo 2013 in Kaohsiung City in Taiwan running October 5th through October 20th, 2013. (The white and black glazing represents a new technique I am exploring.)
Three views here. Two more in next post. Enjoy...........
