Another nice session with 2006 A Gu Zhai Bulang wild arbor from Yunnan sourcing--a small sample that has given a lot of pleasure. Anise/herb, sweet, lightly earthy, good.

I'm spending the afternoon with the 2010 Mr. Feng (Shi Rei) offering. It has that deep luscious sheng quality that I can never quite describe, and like the 2007 and 2008, strong but smooth. Very nice indeed. I've got a picture of the cup from the Split Fire kiln in the light; I could see the 'eun moo' but it didn't quite show up in this picture.

2007 Jing Mei Tang "She De" Guang Bien Lao Zhai - soup is a bit orangey, brown. This shows a bit of age. The taste is woody with some nice bitterness in the background. I have to say, I didn't notice any qi.

Good question, shah, but I don't know my 'terroirs' well enough to do a comparison. It was quite strong, but smooth and seemed like most of the typical youth flavors were gone, or greatly subdued; the slightest hint of smoke, and I was getting bits of a fruity quality -- partly reminded me of some black tea (sacrilegious to say, I'm sure :D ).

Yeah, I didn't find it like a black tea (kinda soft like one, but not malty or fruity). I found it mostly like a Yongde tea. Definitely Lincang tea.

I ordered another sample few times ago. I don't know if i was remembering well or not but the chocolate flavor is gone this time... there are maybe some slight hints of cacao in the throat right after drinking, with honey and licorice or malt. I'm not able to describe how it tastes but i really like this tea and this kind of well rounded bulang. It dries the mouth a little but it doesn't last.
For me the qi was there: "satisfaction qi", relaxing, clears mind. Not an "euphoric qi" but i would probably put it in this category.... but well it's only a personal feeling.

Cha Ren 2012 yibang . I really liked this one good depth and a creamy texture. It had an nice clean feel. I would rather have this than a couple of his more expensive teas.

Nice to see someone else appreciates the Cha Ren YiBang, gasninja. It's definitely a nice one. The JingMai is a real stand out as well in their recent spring selection.

Today I had a really enjoyable 2011 NanNuo from Zhi Zheng.Song (though I believe the leaf is from spring '10), vibrant, full... It was a nice progression from what I had encountered in their recent 2012.

Organic bold leaf Puerh tea (shu) purchased at my local wegmans( grocery store) I have looked at there selection of loose leaf teas for a while and never thought them worth the effort. This tea is very unnoffensive but not very interesting.In other words exactly what I thought it would be maybe a little better. It is cheap enough it could bean good tea to have with a meal.

After Hobbes, here my pics and a bit of notes about this.

It's a mix of Bulang and Bada. I think these two regions complimenting each other quite well. The description of the material is "big tree", what ever this means?

For me though no fire work, but this is decent enough. Good texture and body, it got back bone (i.e. not hollow) and has hint of huigan. Or put it this way, I think it's similar if not better than some lower end Fujin's cakes.

I know Hobbes drink this quite a lot, but I think I would wait till it is at least a few years old, I cannot keep up with younger Hobbes in young raw pu drinking competition. I throw in the towel long time ago.
