Greetings TeaFriends and welcome to a new TeaDay. Please come in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed new faves in teapots/brewing vessels coming into the new year. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Coming into 2011, do you have a new favorite tea compared to this time last year? General type or specific selection, please share.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up!

My teaworld has changed since I discovered dan cong last winter. I could not drink some everyday though. It is like a bottle of good wine. I keep it for the good occasions.

As the the least adventurous member of TeaChat, I have the same favorite as always. Only tried a handful of new teas last year, and none could usurp the Silver Needle.
I felt I needed a tea with some punch to it today, so Gunpowder it is.

Since I only started drinking tea seriously last august, *all* my favourites are new since this time last year
Top 5 (in no particular order): Tie Guan Yin, Tai Ping Hou Kui, Long Jing, Yun Shan Yin Zhen, Sencha (particularly Yutaka Midori "Kaoru Supreme LE").

Last year this time I have not started tea yet...
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 1/11/11 New faves for a new year?
Last year this time I was drinking mostly commercial black teas like Palm Court and Queen Catherine from H&S. Not because they were my favorite, but because that was the phase I guess. Now, I panic if my cupboard is bare of sencha. So miyabi and supreme YM from o-c are current faves. I miss it in my veins like an addict.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into oolongs this year though. It has been a couple years since I've drunk any in significant volume.

Too soon to say, but I'm still enjoying what I was enjoying in 2010.
"Slumming" it a bit today with a Lipton pyramid tea - Bavarian Wild Berry.
It was a gift and it actually rather tasty.

Happy 1/11/11 @ 11:11:11!
A new fave of faves, maybe. I am thinking yes but have not come to a conclusion ... but it was not the strongest year for my all time fave sencha, Yutaka Midori. So, for the first time in 4 years, it is going to be dethroned, but by what?
Tsuru Jirushi Gyokuro would be a good choice, perhaps.

I don't really have a new favorite. I hope to really get into Japanese and Korean teas this year, so who knows. Maybe next year my answer will be different.

Definitely. I found the Golden Lion assam from Lochan Tea later in the year and that is one Tea that I turn to at least every other day for one of my TeaTimes.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 1/11/11 New faves for a new year?
Not exactly a new favorite but one that was kind of forgotten until after spending the last several days reading posts here. I was reminded how much I enjoyed my Black Dragon Pearls and so I found what I had in my cabinet and am enjoying it enough that I am placing an order for more today. Infact that is what I am having right now as well in a Shelley Acacia cup. It is quite nice.

This time last year I have not been among you serious teadrinkers - so definitely yes
There are lots of favs - I am still excited by tea.
Waiting for my brother getting ready to go for dinner - and I am this hungry - but had time for a Matcha - someone said thats a meal already
ciao
