Wonderful set and picture, thanks for sharing! I have been to Red Blossom just once and bought a pair of winter cups, and I'm totally hooked! The cups have a great soft feeling to them, and the weight is just great for cold TeaDay. How are other XDJ owners enjoying their pieces?
Re: Celadon Show and Tell
Finally got pictures of my new Celadon Beauties.
For size comparison that is a 60 ml The Tea Gallery Gaiwan in the background. The tea tray is also a mini tea tray.
*Edit: I just managed to measure both the cups, and filling them to just about the brim, they are each slighlty over 50ml. So I do not know about Redblossoms sizing (maybe the 100 ml is for both cups together?), perhaps I got a quite small set of cups.

If you resize the photo to around 500 pixels wide, you will be able to post it on the forum ... that way everyone can view them right here instead of having to follow your link.Acaelus wrote:http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/859/020hs.jpg/

Very nice celadon!
Those are really nice, Adam! Quite different in size and shape.
Re: Celadon Show and Tell
I like Xu De Jia works very much. I have this gaiwan for more than a year now. It's really one of my favourite pieces of teaware.
Glaze doesn't have crackles that's unusual for celadon. I think it's because the glaze is applied over porcelain base instead of traditional clay base. The gaiwan is super smooth to touch and also very heavy and thick walled.

Serg, you have to be very careful when calling a gaiwan one of your personal faves! Gaiwan trolls are listening and love to break 'em!
Anyway, it is lovely indeed!

Serg,
I am a not a huge fan of gaiwans, but there is something touching in your pot. Do you know is this one casted or hand made?
Adam, I love shape of your cups.
best

It's handmade I believe, since everything by XDJ is made by hand.andrzej bero wrote:Serg,

I got it from Hou De. Back then they had some beatiful pieces. I don't understand why they don't sell them anymore. I would like to have matching cha he (presentation vessel) for example.Acaelus wrote:That style of Gaiwan by Xu De Jia is one I have wanted very much but is no longer available

I think it's hand made. The saucer for example is not of absolutely perfect shape. The lid has some manual filing marks inside. And the gaiwan is signed by the artist.andrzej bero wrote:Do you know is this one casted or hand made?
I'm glad that you all like this gaiwan

Re: Celadon Show and Tell
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen
The Gaiwan by Xu, De Jia is very nicely made. I particularly like the
extreme simplicity of its shape and the high position of the lid.
Unfortunately, this particular gaiwan does not seem to be available
anymore and I cannot really befriend the Red Blossom Collection
of his work from last year.
I am personnally looking for a celadon Gaiwan by Hsu, Chao Chung from
Taiwan, in my opinion the best currently available celadon. I already have
a large Song Style Bowl by him as well as a set of six celadon Teacups.
The blue-white hue of his wares truly captures the spirit of celadon.
I am sorry, but I have not been able to reproduce even an approximation
with a camera.
Best regards and congratulations on your Xu, De Jia treasure
