Well, you don't shake vodka with ice, becuase it makes the ice melt more and thus waters down (and alters the flavor) of the precious, precious vodka. Thus the need to stir it - it chills it without melting the ice. But shaking the vodka in a bottle by itself - go ahead.

Martinis ... I'm no fan of vodka. Gin is the only way to go for a (real) martini. But there's some interesting information (in brief) here:

Back on topic: That's quite a grip idea. The slow pour is something that sort of drew me away from my yixing pots.
On the same token, perhaps I've just never seasoned my tastes enough to know whether there's a difference between a smooth pour and a little splash.
