I put myself at a 2 b/c I'm in front of the computer all day at work, but my job is on the production side - creating brochures, communicating with volunteers, tons of paperwork, etc. - so I am totally dependent on the folks who know how to fix it when my computer locks up.
Drinking Snowbud tea today.
White Peony for me this afternoon.
Raining lightly off and on here.

I picked a 5 definitely for my geekness! I've been into computers, programming, graphic design, etc since I was about 11!
As for tea today, I really couldn't make up my mind as to what I wanted so I defaulted to my White Peach from Adagio and enjoyed it iced! Thinking about finishing the night off with some TGY from SpecialTeas!

I don't think of myself as a true computer geek... yet I am also the unofficial help desk for family and friends on all things computer-related. Most hilariously, my decidedly non-geek husband hit a certain hotkey combination and rotated his screen display 90 degrees. Boy, was he alarmed! Luckily, I already knew the solution to that one
So I'm more of a 3 in my own eyes - maybe a 3.5 in certain areas - but my loved ones are convinced I'm a heroic 5. So I've averaged 'em to say I'm a 4
Some Dragonwell is soon to be in my cup. I'm currently on a family visit and consequently drinking very little tea during the day. Luckily, in the evening I can do what I like!

Hi GeekGirl. Here's a URL to a pic of harlequins that I took last winter at Beavertail Park in Jamestown, RI. There are five drakes and a hen. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4t98r/site ... ertail.jpg. Sadly, all of the parking in Minot Beach was ``resident only'' so I couldn't stay. Oh well, I'll have to find another way in.
Chip, I took your advice and re-brewed the Zencha Sencha ``The Ultimate'' with much less leaf so I could more easily see what makes this tea tick.
I used 2g of leaf with 110ml of water, brewed in my new hohin.
* 1st infusion 140F for 60 seconds.
Almost no scent. Just a hint of kale with a wisp of deeper barley tones and a touch of brine. Light and delicate on the tongue. No real taste but it felt very rich and very nourishing.
* 2nd infusion 150F for 15 seconds.
Same nose as last time. Mouth was fuller but still very subdued. Very light and medium-deep flavors of wheat and barley along the sides and back of the tongue. Still has the same rich non-taste from the previous infusion, but it is less tightly packed this time. This taste appears to be a dense concentration of some kind of acids that has breathed a little and has started to open up. But describing this taste is beyond me.
* 3rd infusion 160F for 15 seconds.
Flavor is losing its deeper tones and has gained a high-toned component. A little astringency is showing at the tip of the palate as a very fine-grained crispness, still with no discernible flavor.
I brewed it twice more and then gave it up. Another interesting thing is that afterwards my mouth felt fresh as if it had been cleansed.
When I tasted this tea yesterday, with 4.15g of leaf infused in 110ml of water, it made me think of primordial soup. The massive concentration of whatever is in there gave me the sense of flavor elements that twinkled in my mouth like stars in a nebula. It almost seemed that if I just increased the ratio of leaf a little more, then new life might spring out of the cup. And how do you describe the taste of that?
This is the first really great Japanese tea that I've tasted. If they all taste like this then please excuse my exuberence as the ramblings of a noob.
And that ends my TeaDay.

Absolutely. And they're tough and great swimmers too. They are consistently seen swimming in the Niagara River Gorge.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:Thanks for that! Maybe I'll have a little yellow tea -- I just hate to wash the taste of that sencha out of my mouth.
