It works incredibly well. I had to use it four times if I remember correctly. I got the item very quickly three times and got my money back within a week in the other case.chamekke wrote:In a pinch, you can file a dispute via PayPal.

Bowl arrived just now by UPS (second run of the day, which is usually a pick-up run in this building.)
According to the label, it shipped the 24th (not the 18th or 19th as previously indicated.)
While I am extremely irritated by the shipping issues, the chawan itself is better than I expected, smaller and slightly more refined than the average Strommen offering, very light in color, with a deep and highly translucent pool of glassed ash in the bottom. Well done. Amusingly it is still covered with firing ash. Need to wash that baby. The exterior goes from grey to cream to gold, with the interior being more of a shino orange creamsicle look. Need to do some pics.
All in all, I am very pleased with the bowl itself. However, due to the shipping issues with both of my orders with him, this is (probably) the last time I do business with him. There are excellent artists in abundance, who are more reliable in their business practices.

Glad you got your bowl Geek, can't wait to see it!

look now.

conundrum
Trying to decide what feedback to leave over all of this. If it were a commercial product it would be a no-brainer: Negative - waited 4 weeks to ship. etc, etc
But with artisan products on ebay, it seems that a portion of the feedback should be about the item itself, which is very nice. OTOH, leaving a "neutral" doesn't seem like much of a statement about the atrocious business practices.
I mean, to compare, sellers like Mago, and A.N. leave a little message at the tops of their stores when they will be out of town and delaying shipping by 3 DAYS! Jay delayed shipping by nearly 4 WEEKS without a word, until I inquired.
I wish one could leave a whole paragraph of explanation like Etsy allows.
Any suggestions?

Well you can leave positive, but note in your comment it took forever.
Then in the drop downs you can give 1 star for How Quick Shipping, Cost and Communication.

I'm not leaving a positive, don't think it's deserved, even if the bowl is attractive. At best it was a wash. The stars don't seem to be an effective way to communicate these issues either, as it takes a LOT of 1 star ratings to show up on the. I'm thinking of: bowl is nice, but 4 weeks to ship not professional.
I'm tired of dealing with artists who want to be regarded as "serious" or "professional" but then excuse their poor follow through by saying "But I'm the only one handling everything!" wah wah wah. I've had a couple of those experiences lately with Etsy sellers (not anyone here on our Artisan forum, they are GREAT!) and am cranky and frustrated.
Yes, we all get backed up on our to-do list at times, (I know I have,) but it's not acceptable business practice. The sad thing is, if I had received EITHER timely shipping, OR decent communication, I would have received this bowl and been thrilled. It really is pretty. But right now I'm looking at it and thinking "meh, why did I bother."
It takes the fun out of things. Hobbies are supposed to be fun.

Well it sounds like you have decided what to do then.
Fire away.
Fire away.

Tesla was a lot like this. Terrifyingly brilliant, but hadn't the slightest clue what to do after the creative and inventing business. A terrible, terrible business man.
A lot of professors and scholars are like this too. Just burning with genius, but some can't figure out how to zip their flies correctly.
It's a sort of thing I take in stride. Indeed, you got your piece, and I'm sure you had plenty to spare in the meantime.
By making an account on eBay, the artist implies he or she will abide by the commercial expectations of good customer relations on eBay. This is not, however, a guarantee of any kind, and very prone to problems when it comes to individuals, especially creative types, separated from their customers by a thin sheen of coding.
