Goodbye Chatters

by Madam Potts » Mar 12th, '07, 11:32

I want to say goodbye to my fellow chatters and message-posters. I do not have the time to continually click and load pages only to find that maybe the thread I've been following has not progressed. It takes a lot longer and for far less result. This has become inefficient. If/when they decide to make this user-friendly again then I will be interested in the board.

I really wish Adagio had left perfection alone.

Regrettably,

Madam Potts

Sorry to see you go. Have you tried clicking on the "New Posts" button? That makes it very convenient to go right to the new posts.

Lenny, please, enough about the new posts botton...it works in some scenarios, but it is not a panacea for the the way the forum has been changed. I am glad that at least someone still enjoys the forum.

I too have moved on to greener tea forums...I hope to return one day to a forum with out excessive clicking and loading. In fact this is the only subject I have checked on for the last few weeks...hoping to hear from out host. What has surprised me the most is that our friends at Adagio have not responded on the forum to our concerns...this I thought was very strange. Well...14 to 2 against the new format in the poll speaks volumes. When I posted the poll, I expected a faily even split...I was wrong.

It is sad, because I have enjoyed teachat so much over the last year and made many new tea friends. But this new format is too frustrating and non user friendly...that I have simply lost interest in even trying. The forum used to be fun...now it is a hassle.

I would be curious if posts are down? Maybe, maybe not...

Well...I will still visit...I cannot stay away completely...I will not be active though.

Happy TEA times to everyone...
Chip

I don't know. I guess is ignorance is bliss. I came in right before they changed it, so I vaguely remember it being different, but mostly I am simply used to things the way they are, and have no trouble with it.

To be honest, I haven't even noticed the difference. I use an RSS reader to keep track of all the new posts, and I find it to be extremely useful. If the new format is bothering you, just subscribe to the RSS feed for teachat and keep track of new posts that way.

Where'd you find the RSS feed?

http://www.teachat.com/rss.php

I don't think there's a "get rss feed" button on the site, but firefox sees TeaChat as livebookmark-able, so I guess that's how I found it originally.

Hey, just trying to help. No need to get upset. Perhaps I missed some posts but so far I've not read anything indicating which scenarios the "Read New Posts" button will NOT work, except what you mentioned about logging on, not reading the new posts, then logging off. I'm not sure why one would do that, but perhaps it's a public PC or something. I never bother to log off.

I have tested the button by logging off, then back on, and it still works great. I have logged off my home pc, then logged onto my work PC the next day and the "Read New Posts" button works correctly, even remembering which posts I read from the other computer.

So unless you frequently log on and off without reading the posts, I don't what the problem is. It seems to me that the "Read New Posts" button would work for most "scenarios".

... ...hahahaha...who am I kidding...I could walk away from TeaChat as easily as I could walk away from tea...impossible.

Sorry Lenny...I think I displaced some aggression, my apologies.

But I am having a difficult time adjusting to the changes. (geez, I sound like an old fart) And I do get very frustrated with it. Yes, I know there are ways to get around it...but the old way was simply better for me...period. I will say nothing more on the subject as I have made my point of view too evident already.

So I am back after one day...and prepared to eat crow, quite deservedly so...

I will just say, "the  made me do it..."

scruffmcgruff Thanks for pointing out the RSS. I tried it out and it is fab. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out, but it worked great. Google reader is quickly becoming a good friend of mine.

My apologies as well...I got a bit defensive in my reply. I just hate to see good contributers leave. This is a great forum with lots of friendly folks, offering great advice, insight, and knowledge. Adagio set up a great forum here, but it's the folks here that make it click.

Time to brew my next cup...I think a cup of Dragonwell will do.

Well Lenny, we can certainly agree on the cup of Dragonwell...I think it would be better for us to debate brewing methods for this most excellent green tea!!!

But well said, Lenny...

Geez, another RSS linked site...I do not know. I have too many linked already...

I have said this in several threads already, this is the best general tea forum on the planet.

Ah..you're NOT so resistant to change as you make it sound! :P I've been online since 1994 (I used Netscape when it was still in beta) but have yet to figure out how to use the RSS stuff.

Hahahaha...well I usually just say some magic words over my computer...seems to work. Every time I get it to work I amaze myself...but it is very cool. However too many RSS linked sites is a bit of a curse...never get any work done.

I resist change til I have no choice but to evolve or become extinct. It is funny that you noticed I resist change...or maybe I said that?
