Longjing for sure and I don't care whether the stuff I drink is not sitting on Hu Jintao's table.

I will kindly leave some of it for you Chip
Out of curiosity - which one is the fourth?
Thank you kindly!

The 4th is Lu An Gua Pian.

And the 5th is undecided among so many Chinese green tea candidates!
Long Jing and Tai Ping Hou Kui are my two favourite Chinese green teas, and now it seems that I have to try Melon Seed and Zhu Ye Qing too...
This hobby/passion/beverage/habit is not cheap

I liked a Tai Ping Hou Kui - really big leaves :)
And I somhow liked a Zhu Ye Qing - tasted like cooked beans.
But what really hit all my senses was this Long Jing.

I'd strongly recommend it.

TPHK and Longjing are also my favorites (from the same source) ... you described the zhu ye qing exactly as I would, hehe!

Chinese greens are about the only greens I like to drink. I have to have Long Jing open and around me at all times. It is by far my favorite. I also like Meilan Chun, Xue Long, Jasmine Pearls, An Ji Bai Cha, and Yang Yan Gou Qing. I could keep going because I like almost every one I have tried.

Bi Luo Chun is my least favorite. To me it tastes like soap mixed with that strange warmish, acidic taste in the back of your throat after you have vomited. Just very unpleasant to me. I know they say it tastes buttery, but if butter tasted like that I wouldn't be so fat.

This is a toughie. I once would have said Long Jing, and that's still a baseline choice that I use to test the offerings of any new vendor I'm looking at. But at the moment, if I had to pick just one, I think it would have to be Lu'an Gua Pian.

On the other hand, the sheer variety of China greens is an "essential" all by itself, so if Melon Seed's the One I'm still pretty promiscuous. I often regret that there's no good Chinese teashop anywhere near where I live--whenever we visit our daughter in Tucson we hie off to Seven Cups, where there always seems to be something on the menu I haven't tried before. What fun.
