Re: Junk or not ?
I have a very naive question -- does this type of pot chip really easily?
Re: Junk or not ?
Yes.
But there were also tons of them and they don't have a lot of monetary value. I expect they were not prized the same as a Yixing.

Re: Junk or not ?
For the large part, I'm holding on to mine for sentimental reasons. I don't use them frequently. Right now the frog pot is drinking high oxidation high roast DC (cheap stuff). It'll probably see more action pretty soon!
Re: Junk or not ?
great news David for your jar & teapot !
Re: Junk or not ?
I've found almost same one with that porcelain vase
http://www.taobao.com/view_image.php?sp ... dbId=&fv=9
http://zdscg.taobao.com/search.htm?spm= ... 6.1.FpNQiZ (their site)
sold at 680rmb, says it's from Jiaqing period (early 19c.)
I still can't comment on their authenticity, my experience on porcelain is limited, and being antique doesn't mean high price (except Yixing), it differs a lot depending on the quality.

Re: Junk or not ?
thinking again, Desaru indeed was Jiaqing period ship (roughly says very early Daoguang (also early 19c)..but of course imitators know that as well.
Re: Junk or not ?
Many thanks chrl42 for the research. It does look a lot like mine. My knowledge in porcelain is very limited, but this one caught my eye. I paid it less than $30.
