I'd watch out for Hekate, Chip.

I'm not sure deleting everyone else's off topic posts and leaving her's is going to help placate her. I'd be pretty hacked off if I had a disagreement and it was edited to look like I was arguing in an empty room.

Agreed... that was a very bad idea, Chip. I would seriously consider changing that back.

I disagree. Chip attempted to be helpful by making a suggestion regarding the clarity of her poll title. Instead of simply accepting the suggestion, she made a stink about it. The thread degraded into a conversation about her title, and then she mentioned that her thread had gone well off topic, which it did. All Chip did, in my mind, was correct that. She's now free to delete any posts she made defending herself or attacking others, and the thread can once again exist in peace with its murky poll title.

I did what I feel is best for the forum. She is fine with it. I have offered to remove any of hers at her discretion.

In my experience as a moderator, I did what I felt was best. I stand by it. I take full responsibility for it. I would do it again.

Ironically, I PMed her well over an hour ago (remember she pointed out that I could have PMed her), yet she has not opened it yet despite being on and posting the whole time.

That makes sense.

I think that was my first posting experience in the SB forum, I might give it another shot in 2012.

Figgy does seem to be fine with it, so it didn't turn out as badly as I expected. I would still argue that it is over-management of the thread though, as a more hostile response to this sort of modding is likely.

Ditto, this was my first posting there, pretty funny actually. We must not be compatible with the SB forum, yet we all found it tonight.

Figgy and I are PMing and are buddies now. I guess I am not such an evil mod after all.

I think Figgy's aim is fairly innocent ... I think she's intrigued by exotic deities, and likes to create tea blends, so she's basically looking for ideas for new blends, then creating them on the fly to see what people think. In a weird sort of way, I think she's trying to win people's favour.

The amusing thing (to me at least) is that any tea blend name that doesn't simply describe the blend's contents is by definition pretty arbitrary, and no name - however pretty - is going to attract me to a blend if the combination of ingredients doesn't sound tasty. So I find it hard to care about any blend based on name alone. But it would be pretty ungracious to say that, so I didn't. (And I know some people ARE really turned on by a clever choice of name! :) )

I always miss the good stuff :P :)

I do wish you guys would include links with these kinda threads, though :) I never check those types of forums, so I never see that stuff until someone points it out. I might just have to start using an RSS reader :)

About teaguy, I pretty much figured he was a vendor the first time I saw him post an offer to send tea to a complete stranger. The guy is a bit of a dork - there's something about his personality that just annoyed me at first blush. That and the offer to send me "good" bai hao - there is nothing that irritates me more than when I mention that I don't care for bai hao and a vendor insinuates that I just haven't had the good stuff by offering to turn me on to some. I'm not a noob! I know what good bai hao is, and what it has to offer! I can see why some people would like it, but the mere fact that I'm American does not obligate me to like it :x

He has had tea with Aaron Fisher, however, which counts for something in my book, not sure what, but something. Course, dork would be the right word to describe him on his motorcycle, dressed in his rain suit with his traveling tea set on board.

Has anyone actually taken him up on any of these offers? They do get irritating ... even embarrassing.

He seems harmless enough, knowledgeable about tea and is lives in a slightly more tea centric part of the world than me - which I'm not bitter about at all. I think the issue is that he's treading a fine line with the TC rules by repeatedly saying he'll do people a favour if they contact him via his website which he uses to sell teawares

I am looking for a My Sweet Lord blend with George Harrison on the label.

Also, a big welcome back to Lew.

This thread, lacking meaningful context, was still an interesting read.

I am very busy this week because of Chinese New Year approaching, but will be going out to Ying Ge (Taiwan's primary pottery-production area) to do some sourcing sometime before the end of the month. I'll also look for the 100ml white cups tjkoko wants when I'm there.
