Just a point of interest, but that's not very much at all. I know for a fact that some of the big companies like Rishi and Republic of Tea have a markup of at least 50%Wesli wrote:And, actually, that netsurfr guy is pulling a profit. His profit is about $7 per bing of 8582. Minus another couple dollars for shipping, and his net profit is $5/bing.

I took back the forum so hard that I recreated livechat under my own control somewhere else.
http://wikicha.com/chat/
This recreates 80% of the livechat experience already. More to come. (We'll have a better url when it is finished, seems to only work in Firefox right now)
Edit: new url, and IE now works. Links are never broken, and actually become links. Most special characters are not blocked, and do not screw up the chat window. I will soon be adding a feature to show the 5 most recent links posted somewhere to the left or below the chat window - I often find myself scrolling back to find recent links amidst chatter.

Not too much from a business standpoint. But for claiming that he doesn't make a dime, it's a lot.Space Samurai wrote:Just a point of interest, but that's not very much at all. I know for a fact that some of the big companies like Rishi and Republic of Tea have a markup of at least 50%
I forgot to add the 3% paypal fee which would take a negligible $0.30 away from his profit estimate.
So, I'm just picking my bone with the fact that he is pulling profit, after saying he isn't. I do say that his prices are agreeable. Were he to have a storefront, It's likely I'd make an order from him.

Amen to that. I realized that on chat today. People pop into the chat, very demanding about the information they want/expect, upset when chatters give them options or have different opinions. No "hi how are you wherea re you from how did you find that tea" etc. Just "TELL ME HOW TO BREW THIS".fencerdenoctum wrote:The tone of the forum has kinda changed over the past year and I'm really not sure why or how. <snip> Now it seems like there are more and more folks looking for instruction first and friends later.
Most of the time, I don't bother responding. This isn't just a customer service support forum, last time I checked. If it is, can Adagio pay me in tea?

Also, others have mentioned the sex/booze comments in chat. It wouldn't bother me so much if they were clever about it (think Woody Allen). But it usually comes off idiotic and puerile
