I will have to go with Japan for this month. I was enamored by some sencha from a local shop until I ran out of it. Now I am counting down days until I go back home and can get more.

Chip, sorry to hear about your mother. Hopefully she will get better soon.

In my cup currently is Three Cup Fragrance Green tea from Enjoying Tea. It is definitely better than my earlier experiment of seeing what would happen if I upped the water temperature for White Peach. That didn't turn out too great, but the green tea is tasty.

Thanx Sal, Chamekke, Olivier, Jazz, and Cinnamon Kitty!

I just finished a very nice Assam white that really impressed me. It was fruity, sweet and of decent body. It had been at least several years since my last Indian white, they were really just trying to figure out how to manufacture whites ... and were not too good. This is a sign of excellent progress.

A Darjeeling white would be a nice one to try next.

Thanks, Jazz. The image on the Welch's grape jelly jar is Tokepi, another distinguished Japanese. Sometimes I think the Japanese archipelago must be inhabited primarily by anime characters downing sencha and whisking gyokuro.

After three infusions of Indian grocery store orthodox Assam, now in my cup: Yang Yan Gou Qing (one of the never ending list of Chinese greens) grandfather style at work. The dry tea looks like tiny, stiff and hard knots but brews out to gorgeous miniature leaf sets with a bud and one or two dinky leaves. I just can't imagine how they harvest this stuff. It must be really labor intensive. Each little bag is like a work of art.

Brain dead today. I voted Japan but other than the lovely session I had day before yesterday with some sencha that really hit the spot.

Upton Tea. I found it completely by accident. I was looking under Formosa for oolongs and spotted the lapsang souchong. The catalog says it's smokier and mellower than most LS. I've only tried a few kinds of LS, so I'm nowhere near an expert, but I think the catalog's right. It's become my tea for when I really want to relax and feel good. I keep my intake to one or sometimes two cups a day, because I really like it and don't want to get sick of it.

Chinese oolong, all the way. I'm a sucker for Wuyi yancha. Having some Qi Zhong this afternoon, hoping to chase away another cold.

Gyokuro, Yame, O-Cha. Very nice.

I am surprised to see the voting today. Japan is close to China. India and Taiwan are doing pretty well, too.

Except that, much like full-acid orange juice, steamed Japanese tea generally upsets my stomach!

Golden Monkey & Wuyi Oolongs are still my favorites so have to vote China again this time. Speaking of, had Golden Monkey w/bfast this morning. Have to wait & see what tea I'll have this evening.

Made an interesting discovery yesterday--mixed Teavana's Formosa Nut Oolong (from kymidwife) w/Oolong #8 for bfast. The hot tea was just so-so but after it was cold, it was quite tasty. Made a pitcher of it iced before leaving home this morning & enjoying a glass now. It's quite refreshing for this 85* Fall day. :?

Wooohooo, me too! I am still lovvvvvvving my oolongs and growing in appreciation of my greens, but this has been a Darjeeling month by a landslide. I got some amazing samples from Salsero (thanks!) and also wiped out some Darjeeling Puttabong that Auggy and I both bought from Teavana... and some other darjeeling from Upton... and some Oooh Darjeeling from Adagio.... and I am in love with them all. Can't wait for some new harvests... can't decide which or what to order first!

I voted Chinese because of my morning Yunnan. I did have a delicious Gyokuro organic from Natures Tea Garden that didn't give me a burning sensation in my esophagus like other greens have been doing lately. That "acid" feeling you describe!! Jim

Interesting leiche and jim. Japanese green teas seem to have greatly assisted my acid reflux disease. I do remember it was a bit of an adjustment.
