Also, what's The Tea Gallery doing with Indian tea? I thought they were Chinese only.
Had the most amazing japanese teas last week at the tea gallery.... Anything tea, Anything good : )

I've always thought that First Flush tastes pretty much like white tea (edit: I mean spesificly Baimudan), so that explanation sounds good to me. The good green Darjeelings I've had tasted very much like First Flush though.

I think so too, Beidao. Perhaps the brew color could call them apart? I feel like DJLing 1st Flush have even more floral and Muscatel, and much more brisk then white?

Intuit, thanks for the info on current Darjeeling situation, that's very interesting. I wonder if there is comparable unrest in Assam?

As for me, I prefer 2nd flush Darjeeling to 1st, tastes fuller... but to each his/her own!

Salsero, that's pretty interesting about Darjeelings getting lighter. I haven't been into tea long enough to notice but I think I'm down with the nice bright greenish Darj's; if you want a black black tea, get some Assam.

Is Assam generally more low elevation? I like Djling because the higher mountain quality and characters, much more cleaner per se? Maybe there are some Assam which are higher elevation choicest too?
