Right now I've only ordered two bags of shincha:
O-cha Sae Midori and Hatsumi.
The hatsumi is an excellent value and a great shincha with a classic shincha flavor.
Not sure what other shincha I'll purchase this year, if any.
I *love* the Hibiki-An Shincha traditional but find it to be a tad overpriced.
I don't demand variety as much as I used to, interestingly enough. Now, as a tea drinker, it's more essential that I have tea on hand than that I have variety.

I was thinking about this too, not that I have anything to review yet but I was just noticing that were on page 13 already here and it might be more convenient and easier to find a specific tea if we opened up a new sticky dedicated to just the reviews and banter of those reviews.Jack_teachat wrote:Let's have some reviews people!

I added a poll to the topic, please reply in the next 24 hours. If there is a positive vote, I would ask Pentox if he would be gracious and start a new topic for the reviews and to simply supercede this topic.
Part of me likes having one and only one 2009 topic, but we could simply have a Part II topic.

blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
I understand why having just this topic would make it simple, but in my eyes this topic isn't really a 2009 Shincha Season topic, but more of a pre-season topicChip wrote:I added a poll to the topic, please reply in the next 24 hours. But either way, let the poll decide, I really wouldn't mind either way

Temomi brewing instructions from Kyohei Sugimoto
I wrote info@sugimoto.com to ask for the recommended way to brew Temomi.
I'm glad that I asked! Here is Kyohei Sugimoto's response,

To enjoy the full flavor of Temomi Shincha, we recommend to follow the
brewing instruction below.
Just like espresso, it is to enjoy a shot of intense and rich green tea.
1. Prepare a small tea pot and shot cups. Ideal size of the pot is 5oz. (for
3 to 4 shot cups).
2. Use 10g of Temomi Shincha.
3. Prepare about 2.5oz. of 100F water and pour it slowly into the pot. Make
sure all leaves are submerged in water. If some leaves emerge, pour extra
water just enough to soak all the leaves.
4. Steeping time is 2 minutes. Do not shake the pot.
5. After 2 minutes, check and see if the leaves are completely open. If not,
please wait an extra minute.
6. Pour the tea bit by bit into the cups evenly until the last drop.
Above instruction is the traditional way to steep the Temomi Shincha in Japan.
I hope you enjoy our Temomi Shincha.
If you have any question, please feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Kyohei
