brewing instruction below.
Just like espresso, it is to enjoy a shot of intense and rich green tea.
1. Prepare a small tea pot and shot cups. Ideal size of the pot is 5oz. (for
3 to 4 shot cups).
2. Use 10g of Temomi Shincha.
3. Prepare about 2.5oz. of 100F water and pour it slowly into the pot. Make
sure all leaves are submerged in water. If some leaves emerge, pour extra
water just enough to soak all the leaves.
4. Steeping time is 2 minutes. Do not shake the pot.
5. After 2 minutes, check and see if the leaves are completely open. If not,
please wait an extra minute.
6. Pour the tea bit by bit into the cups evenly until the last drop.
Above instruction is the traditional way to steep the Temomi Shincha in Japan.
I hope you enjoy our Temomi Shincha.
If you have any question, please feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Kyohei
100F water???! That's only slightly higher than body temperature. That's not even warm... more like luke warm or tepid. Bizarre. I'm willing to try it, but I've never seen a recommendation lower than 130F.
I haven't posted here in forever, but it's SHINCHA DAY, apparently, shincha christmas, and i'm excited! Den's Hashiri & my Temomi from Sugimoto arrived this afternoon. Looks like we're going to break into the Hashiri tonight, and I'll post a review. i also raised an eyebrow at those Temomi instructions, but i think i'm going to try it as directed...
Re: Temomi brewing instructions from Kyohei Sugimoto
Really! Not only is the recommended brewing temp 100F, but the ratio of leaf to water is 4 to 1. Zencha recommends 100F for brewing their finest gyokuro, but this is the first sencha that I've seen (in my limited experience) with the same recommended brew temp.heatwaves wrote:100F water???! With 10 grams of leaf producing 2.5 ounces of liquor, at least for the first infusion, that gives three people a short shot to try. But that is the recommendation, so I am all in.
Thank you Pentox for turning us on to this!

blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
I would suggest following the Temomi instructions to the letter. It is unlike any other sencha you've ever seen or tried.
This stuff comes off strong and somewhat crazy, but it's the only tea that can pull this off. And honestly I don't want to pay for Temomi just to brew it like a regular sencha. I think of it as it's own special kind of tea.

I hope you will post a review of that Kiwami. I have had my eye on it for a couple of years now and never have gotten around to ordering it.Pentox wrote:Decided to give some Kiwami a whirl this year. It's crazy it seems like Zencha is like the top source for Shincha this year followed by SA (really surprising) and Yuuki (again surprising)

Look's like that one is ready to go! Although it appears that Yuuki-Cha have had to delay their dispatch dates for a few of their other shincha's currently on pre-order...wireless wrote:Just to let you all know Dan from yuuki-cha told me there will be an organic fukamushi shincha up for grabs soon for those that way inclined.
