Yes I have just picked it up at the post office. It is as cute as on the picture. I also hesitated for a while as I already have many chawans (7 if I count right) but it was quite an unsual one so I mad a 17$ bid for it.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:HAHA!!! YOU bought it! I was seriously thinking about that one, it's so cute. Did you get it already? Do you love it?
Although tea tastes great in my Bizen cups and sake tastes great when using my very ugly Bizen sake set, I have always avoided Bizen kyusu because they're so thick and heavy and also because the holes in the filters tend to be very large. I don't think these qualities are good for sencha. However, after seeing this rather unusual Bizen kyusu posted on the Japanese Hand Crafts website I couldn't resist. The filter had very small holes and the lid was very wide, which makes an easy task out of filling or emptying the tea leaves.
After recieving this kyusu I tried a large leaf sencha I was given as a gift and it tasted great in spite of the rather hefty weight of this piece of teaware. Literally no leaf in the cup and a very easy pour. I next tried the rather light and smaller leaf Tsuen Kirameki from O-Cha and had excellent results as well. This may be the best filter design I have used, although I didn't have any Fukamashi on hand to see if it clogged. The two senchas I brewed in it worked out very well with no clogging.
This is the first Kyusu that is not from the Hokujo kiln that I have used regularly.
