by Chip » Aug 26th, '09, 00:04

Welcome one and all to TeaDay. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed which tea pairs with food. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. What do you add to tea? Please share. Today you can choose up to 5 answers! A TeaChat first for multiple poll replies.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Add what you like to your tea, like what you add to your tea.

wait, what?
poison? drugs? I have heard of Oolong-infused vodka but I haven't given it a try yet...um, what kind of sting operation are you running here Chip because I'm not falling for it. Now way the po-po is going to get me like this.

All jokes aside though, I don't add anything in the tea unless it's my morning cheap Assam (than it's milk), or southern style tea, which is sweetened. To me, if I put something else in my tea I don't really think of it as "tea". I usually think of it as just something to drink. Don't judge me please, I'm just a little weird, is all.

Enjoying some Shi Lan from The Tea Gallery. The fall season is upon us, and my tastes are turning back to roasted oolong now

I rarely add anything to my tea but when I do it's usually adding a bit of lemon juice to Darjeeling.

Sal, I have this same sweet little pot, but you have the "new and improved" lid after all the old style glass ones kept breaking and breaking. Now instead of a pot, I have a creamer. :?

Well nothing usually, but I do have to admit a growing fondness for Boba in iced green.

PS: Geeber, I made some boba up and yep, it's just like in the store. Thank you! Now if I could figure out what kind of green tea they are using.

When drinking Oolong at home, and other self prepared Chinese teas.

But when drinking tea with a full english breakfast, I have Indian tea, with milk and a little sugar.

And when in Malaysia :-

a breakfast, in a (Mamak Cafe) Indian restaurant of Roti Canai, Daal and Sambal - will be washed down with "Teh Tarik" - triple strength Black Tea with Condensed milk poured at great height from jug to jug until it is frothy.

in the heat of the day suffering from the tropical humidity it may be
"Teh O Limau panas" - Hot Black tea, with sugar and Lime or Kasturi Lime.
or
"Teh O Halia panas" - Hot Black tea, with sugar and Ginger root, or Ginger juice.

Occasionally I would have either of the above cold
"Teh O Limau ais", "Teh O Halia ais" with Ice.

I'm having an Ali Shan oolong this morning, which has nothing added to it (of course). But iced tea gets ice, and sometimes (rarely) sweetener. And Earl Grey must have sugar in it as well.

Well, sometimes I add crack...
Just kidding!

I add NOTHING! NOTHING!! Not to start a war, but my basic philosophy is this:
sweetening tea = ruining tea

Unless it's masala chai, that needs some milk and sugar.

I love the options today, Chip.
Poison, lol
Toss a little deadly nightshade in with the Ti Kuan Yin. Yum. Feel the burn.

Seriously though, anyone actually put booze in tea??

My first cup, Assam, had nothing added. My second cup, a chai, has honey and milk added. My next cup will likely be a TKY - good homework tea - and that will have nothing added. Then I will probably have a white tea and that won't have anything in it either. I might have something herbal later too. The day is young and there are so many tea options.

I have to say that I am dissappointed that there is no option for BUG BITS.

I actually made a tea blend for my dad that I called Arethusa Rumrunner. Rum flavored black tea along with some tropical fruit flavors. My dad will brew up a really strong cup of this and add rum to it. Why not? People add booze to coffee

MMMMmmmm Bug Bits Baozhong - ftw! hehe

Hi everyone,

Mostly, I add nothing to tea except water or ice. Except for my wake-up cup which I like similar to the way I grew up drinking it - (Yunnan Gold) with a touch of sugar and soy milk. A little gentler first thing...

But experimentally have added all sorts of things to tea, excluding monkey paws, poison and drugs. :)

Salsero - from where did you get that cool tea vessel?
